Anjana Basu is a Bengali Indian actress based in Kolkata. [2] She started her acting career with modelling, and gradually with a serial "Robir Aloy" which aired on Alpha Bangla (presently known as Zee Bangla), she came into the limelight. The year was 2003. In 2005, she was a part of a horror film, Raat Barota Panch. [3]

She has appeared in Aniket Chattopadhyay's Chha-e Chhuti and Bye Bye Bangkok . She has also worked in television mega-serials like Gaaner Oparey , Shonar Horin, Debdas , Bidhir Bidhan, Bodhuboron etc. [2] Anjana has worked with Amol Palekar in Krishnakali. [4]

Early life

Anjana spent her childhood in a joint family in Howrah in West Bengal. Her father didn't want her to come into theater or acting, and thus she concentrated in her studies. She learned Bharatnatyam in her childhood. Her father was a member of an amateur theater group.[ citation needed ] She studied in Howrah Girls' School and Bijoy Krishna Girls' College, and pursued with Psychology. After completing her studies she entered the Rajabazar Science College, for post graduation, but could not complete her studies. She got married and moved to Patna. Later she came back to Kolkata and since then, took acting as her career. [3]

Career

She rose to fame with the Hindi serial Krishnakali, which was directed by Amol Palekar, based on a story by Shivani. She played an important character in Amol Palekar's film Dum Kata. In 2007 or 2008, she starred in a Telefilm Parokiya, directed by Atanu Ghosh.[ citation needed ] She joined in BJP in 2019. [5]

Gaaner Oparey is an Indian Bengali television serial which aired on Star Jalsha from 28 June 2010 to 16 April 2011. This TV musical marked the beginning of a yearlong celebration of the 150th birth anniversary of the great Indian poet Rabindranath Tagore. The concept was a brainchild of the Indian director Rituparno Ghosh. The songs were all popular Rabindra sangeets. Prosenjit Chatterjee launched an audio CD of its tracks on Mahalaya on 12 October 2015. On account of Rabindranath Tagore's 157th birthday, Star Jalsha added Gaaner Oparey on Disney+ Hotstar on 9 May 2018. It was re-aired on Star Jalsha during the 2020 lockdown period, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Basabdatta Chatterjee is a Bengali actress who mainly works in Bengali television serials. She made her debut in the popular soap Gaaner Oparey directed by Rituparno Ghosh. She rose to fame by acting in the lead female role in the comedy soap Boyei Gelo, which aired on Zee Bangla. But later, due to other engagements, she stopped acting in the serial. Debadrita Basu is a Bengali TV and Theatre actress. Although her career started with stage plays, she is best known for playing the lead roles of Joyee in the serial Joyee, Alo in the serial Alo Chhaya, both of these aired on Zee Bangla and Rajkumari Meera / Meerabai in the mythological serial Shree Krishna Bhakto Meera on Star Jalsha, and Alo in the serial Alor Theekana on Sun Bangla.

Payel De, also known as Payel Dey, is a Bengali actress. She began her career in 2006 with Zee Bangla's Ekdin Pratidin daily soap and portrayed the character Chandrayee as a supporting role. She is known for her work in television soap opera serials Durga and Behula where she played the title character, both of these aired on Star Jalsha. She started her career while she was studying in college. Afterwards, she starred as Aalo Moitra in the TV serial Bodhu Kon Alo Laaglo Chokhe which aired on Star Jaisha. She has also played lead characters in Maa Durga, Tobu Mone Rekho, Ardhangini, Jaahanara, Durga Durgeshwari, Chuni Panna and currently Desher Maati.
