Veliki Brat 2006 was the first season of Serbian version of Big Brother . The show premiered on 15 September 2006 and ran for 107 days, concluding on 31 December 2006. 14 housemates entered the house on Day 1. During the season, five more housemates were brought in. The winner of the season is Ivan Ljuba, a medical student and pianist from Belgrade. The season quickly became a ratings hit on Serbian television, but has also received plenty of criticism.
A month prior to the start of the first season, a special smaller week-long edition called Veliki Brat: Generalna Proba was held for seven days, where twelve hopefuls entered the house for a chance to win a spot on the first season of Veliki Brat. The hopefuls were pre-recorded with the episodes shown a week later. In the end, the public voted to decide which male and female hopeful would win the prize of becoming an official housemate in the first season. The winners were announced on 15 September 2006, the evening that the first season launched.
Viewers crowned Jelena and Marko as the winners, and they became the official housemates of Veliki Brat 2006.

Big Brother 2005, also known as Big Brother 6, was the sixth series of the British reality television series Big Brother. The show followed sixteen contestants, known as housemates, who were isolated from the outside world for an extended period in a custom-built House. One or more housemates were evicted by a public vote each week. The last remaining housemate, Anthony Hutton, was declared the winner, winning a cash prize of £50,000. Runner-up Eugene Sully also won the same amount during a task two days before the final.
Big Brother Australia 2005, also known as Big Brother 5, was the fifth season of the Australian reality television series Big Brother, and was aired on Network Ten in Australia, and TV-2 in New Zealand with a four-week delay. The series started on 8 May 2005, with housemates going into the House the day before, and finished on 15 August 2005, lasting 101 days. The theme for this season was "single, sexy and competitive". Auditions for housemates were held in March 2005. In a departure from usual procedure, candidates were not required to send in videos of themselves as had been the case for prior auditions. Instead, the producers toured major Australian cities and conducted interviews. They searched for sexy singles that were willing to have sexual relations on camera. Promos for the show suggested that Big Brother would be different this year, and phrases such as "Assume Nothing, Expect Anything", "Let's Play" and "Think Again" were used throughout the series, especially during Opening Night. The winner was announced on the finale that was watched by 2.282 million Australian viewers.
Big Brother 2006 was the second season of the Finnish reality television season Big Brother. It aired on SubTV in Finland, from 29 August 2006 to 1 December 2006, and lasted 96 days. A number of contestants lived in a purpose-built house in Espoo, and were isolated from the rest of the world. Each week, each housemate nominated two of their peers for eviction, and the housemates who received the most nominations would face a public vote. Of these, one would eventually leave, having been "evicted" from the house. However, there sometimes were exceptions to this process as dictated by Big Brother, known as "twists". In the final week, there were four housemates remaining, and the public voted for who they wanted to win. Sari Nygren received the most votes, and won the prize money of €50,000. The series's final broadcast obtained a peak audience of 540,000 viewers.
