Big Red Mike (foaled 2007 in Ontario) is a Canadian Thoroughbred racehorse. He won the 2010 Queen's Plate, Canada's most prestigious race and North America's oldest annually run stakes race. [1] He was bred by Dom Romeo's Terra Farms, and raced by his nom de course , Terra Racing Stable.

Trained by Nick Gonzalez, leading up to the 151st edition of the Queen's Plate, Big Red Mike won the Plate Trial Stakes on June 13. [2]

Kinghaven Farms is a horse racing stable that was founded in 1967 by Donald G. "Bud" Willmot. Located in King City, Ontario, north of Toronto, the success of the stable would see it expand to the United States with the acquisition of a 660-acre (2.7 km2) farm and training center near Ocala, Florida. In 1974, Bud's son David S. Willmot began managing the farm's racing/breeding programs. Luis Contreras is a Mexican thoroughbred jockey since 2006. After starting his career in Mexico, Contreras started competing in the United States and Canada during the late 2000s. For his graded stakes race career, Contreras has won forty Grade III races, twenty two Grade II races and four Grade I races. At the 2011 Canadian Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing, Contreras won the Queen's Plate, Prince of Wales Stakes, and Breeders' Stakes. He became the first jockey to use two horses to win the Canadian Triple Crown. In 2014, Contreras came short of another Canadian Triple Crown after finishing tenth at the Breeders' Stakes following wins at the Queen's Plate and Prince of Wales.
