Bigg Boss was the first season of the Tamil-language reality TV show Bigg Boss Tamil which is the Tamil version of the Big Brother . The first season aired on Star Vijay from June 25, 2017 to September 30, 2017. [1] [2] The season's presenter was Kamal Haasan and a lavish house set was constructed at EVP theme park, Chennai. This season is the shortest season in the Bigg Boss Tamil series excluding the Ultimate series. [3]
The winner of the season was model/actor, Arav Nafeez who received a cash prize of ₹50 lakh. Lyricist Snehan Sivaselvam was the runner-up.
Snehan, Suja Varunee and Maria Juliana returned as contestants in Bigg Boss Ultimate season 1 . While Bindu Madhavi returned as a contestant in Bigg Boss Non-Stop season 1 and eventually she won it.

After the launch of the show, the viewership of the channel increased by 10%. [41] The series garnered a low rating of 5.2 TVR in debut week with 5.6 million impressions and 5.4 million impressions for premiere episode. [42] [43] It improved further the following weeks where it averaged 8.4 TVR for a six weeks average ratings. [44]
Shakthi Vasudevan is an Indian former actor who has predominantly worked in Tamil-language films. The son of director P. Vasu, Shakthi began his career as a child artist in his father's films before his lead role in Thottal Poo Malarum (2007). He has since enjoyed limited success as an actor, notably appearing in Ninaithale Inikkum (2009) and his father's Kannada film, Shivalinga (2016).
Vaiyapuri is an Indian actor who has worked in Tamil-language films. He rose to fame by appearing in supporting roles in the late 1990s and early 2000s, often portraying supporting comedic characters. His first major role was in Balu Mahendra's Raman Abdullah (1997), while his roles in films including Thulladha Manamum Thullum (1999), Gemini (2002) and Mani Ratnam's Raavanan (2010) also garnered him acclaim.
Snehan is the 1st executive committee member of Makkal Needhi Maiam party. In the year 2018 he entered politics with Makkal Needhi Maiam and contested in the Lok Sabha election. In 2021 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election, he contested on behalf of Makkal Needhi Maiam as a candidate for Virugambakkam Constituency. Born as the eighth son in a farmer family with 6 elder brothers and 1 elder sister, Snehan, a qualified Intermediate teacher, started to write songs in the year 2000. After serving as an assistant to poet Vairamuthu, he began working as a lyricist in the film Putham Pudhiya Poove and has written lyrics for more than 2500 songs and has worked in more than 750 films. Snehan has since also appeared in films as an actor and made his acting debut with Yogi (2009).
Helen Nelson, better known professionally by her stage name Oviya, is an Indian actress who works in the Tamil and Malayalam films also appeared in few Kannada and Telugu films. She made her breakthrough as an actress in Sarkunam's rural romantic comedy Kalavani (2010), before appearing in other films including Pandiraj's Marina (2012), Moodar Koodam (2013) and Madha Yaanai Koottam (2013). Oviya has also enjoyed box office success through her roles in Sundar C's Kalakalappu (2012) and the horror comedy Yaamirukka Bayamey (2014). In 2017, Oviya appeared on the reality series Bigg Boss Tamil 1.
Gayathri Raguram (born 22 April 1984) is an Indian politician for All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam political party and a former choreographer and actress who has worked in the South Indian film industry.
Bigg Boss is an Indian Tamil-language version of the reality television program of the same name. The program follows the Big Brother format developed by Endemol in the Netherlands. Since its premiere on June 25, 2017 the show has rolled out eight seasons and one spin-off version. The first seven season was hosted by Kamal Haasan, followed by Vijay Sethupathi from the eighth season onwards. As of now, a total of 159 contestants have participated in Bigg Boss. Bigg Boss has aired a total of 734 episodes and currently, season 8 is on air.
Raiza Wilson is an Indian actress and model who appears in Tamil films. She rose to fame following her appearance in the Tamil reality TV show Bigg Boss. She won the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut – South for her role as Sindhuja in Pyaar Prema Kaadhal. After her success she continued to act in films such as Dhanusu Raasi Neyargale (2019), Varmaa (2020), FIR (2022), Poikkal Kuthirai (2022) and Coffee With Kadhal (2022).
Arav is an Indian actor and model who works in the Tamil film industry. After making his acting debut through the Vijay Antony-starrer Saithan (2016), he became known after winning the first season of the Tamil reality television show Bigg Boss hosted by Kamal Haasan.
Bigg Boss 2 was the second season of the Tamil-Indian reality television series, Bigg Boss, and was hosted by Kamal Haasan. The season had 17 housemates, and was filmed with 60 cameras. It ran for 15 weeks, and aired on Star Vijay weekdays from 9–10:30 am and 9–11:00 pm on weekends. Hotstar provided content not aired on television and provided Fun Unlimited, a parallel weekly programme. Hosted by Rio Raj, it humorously described events in the house.
The first season of the Malayalam-language version of the Indian reality television series Bigg Boss was telecast on Asianet from 24 June 2018 to 30 September 2018, lasting 99 episodes. It was produced by Endemol Shine India and actor Mohanlal was the host of the show. The show follows a total of 18 contestants, who are isolated from the outside world for 98 days in a custom built house. Each week, one or more of the housemates are evicted by a public vote.
Bigg Boss 13, also known as Bigg Boss Tedha, is the thirteenth season of the Indian reality TV series Bigg Boss and premiered on 29 September 2019 on Colors TV. Salman Khan hosted the season for the tenth time. The finale was scheduled for January, but it was given a one-month extension, and became the second-longest season. The grand finale of the show took place on 15 February 2020, when Sidharth Shukla emerged as the winner and Asim Riaz as the runner-up. Bigg Boss 13 became the most successful Bigg Boss season ever since the inception of the series and also the most watched and best season. It had an average 2.1-2.5 TRP every week.

Bigg Boss 4 was the fourth season of the Tamil-Indian reality TV series Bigg Boss. Kamal Haasan returned as host of the show for the fourth time. The show was launched on 4 October 2020 on Star Vijay and also available on Disney+ Hotstar.
Bigg Boss 5 was the fifth season of the Tamil version of the reality television show Bigg Boss broadcast in India. The show premiered on 3 October 2021 on Star Vijay and Disney+ Hotstar with Kamal Haasan as the host for the fifth time. Nippon Paint was the main sponsor for the fifth season. While, Ramya Krishnan as appeared as a guest host for a week.
Bigg Boss Ultimate was the first season of the Tamil Indian reality streaming television of Bigg Boss Ultimate, the spin-off to Bigg Boss Tamil and the first series to be released exclusively on Star India streaming service Disney+ Hotstar. The season launched on 30 January 2022 with Kamal Haasan as a host, but he has exited the show from week 3 onwards, due to scheduling conflicts with his upcoming film Vikram. Later, Silambarasan continued as a host from week 4 onwards.
Bigg Boss 6 was the sixth season of the Tamil version of the Indian reality television series Bigg Boss based on the Dutch series Big Brother and produced by Endemol Shine India. The show launched on 9 October 2022 on Star Vijay along with a 24/7 Live stream on Disney+ Hotstar. Kamal Haasan has officially once again been appointed as the host for the sixth time. Once again, Nippon Paint sponsored the sixth season.
Bigg Boss Non-Stop, is the first season of the Indian Telugu-language reality digital series of Bigg Boss Non-Stop and the first series to be released exclusively on Star India's streaming platform Disney+ Hotstar. The season premiered on 26 February 2022 with Nagarjuna as a host.
Bigg Boss 7 was the seventh season of the Tamil version of the Indian reality television series Bigg Boss, launched on Star Vijay and digitally streamed on Disney+ Hotstar from 1 October 2023. Kamal Haasan hosted the show for the seventh time. This was the last season for Kamal Haasan as a host. The house was once again located in EVP Film City, Chennai. Vim liquid and G Square plots were the new sponsors for this season.
Bigg Boss 8 is the eighth season of the Indian Tamil-language series Bigg Boss. It premiered on 6 October 2024 on Star Vijay and Disney+ Hotstar. Vijay Sethupathi joined as the host for the season.
