Bihar Vikas Party (Bihar Development Party), political party in the Indian state of Bihar. BVP was formed ahead of the Lok Sabha 1999 elections by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Rajya Sabha MP, Janardan Yadav. Yadav got some local ex-BJP leaders along to his new party. Yadav got 6 591 votes (1.04%) in the constituency Godda (today part of Jharkhand). [1] [2] [3]

BVP are opponents of the bifurcation of Bihar and the creation of Jharkhand as a separate state.

BVP stands on the same ideological ground as BJP, for example on the Ayodhya issue.

He started his political career as member of Samyukta Socialist Party and was elected to the Bihar Legislative Assembly in 1969. He first entered the Lok Sabha in 1977, as a Janata Party member from Hajipur constituency, and was elected again in 1980, 1989, 1991, 1996, 1998, 1999, 2004 and 2014.

Jharkhand Disom Party was a political party in India. The party was founded 2002 by Bharatiya Janata Party Member of Parliament Salkhan Murmu. The party works for the rights of the Adivasi peoples. For example, the party works for more quotas and reservations for Adivasis.

The Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) Liberation is a communist political party in India. The party is represented in Bihar and Jharkhand Legislative Assemblies. Since 2023, the party is also a member of the INDIA electoral alliance. In Bihar, the party has significant base amongst the Extremely Backward Castes and the Schedule Castes. It was successful in mobilising Upper Backward Caste groups such as Koeris in some districts of central Bihar, prior to the rise of Lalu Prasad Yadav. The party faced existential crisis when a large section of its Koeri and Yadav support base defected to Rashtriya Janata Dal in 1990s. However, the ideological commitment of its cadre protected it from disintegration. It staged a comeback in politics after winning twelve seats in Bihar Legislative Assembly in 2020 and by sending two of its members to Lok Sabha in 2024 Indian general elections.

Although India is a parliamentary democracy, the country's politics has become dynastic or with high level of nepotism, possibly due to the absence of party organizations, independent civil-society associations which mobilize support for a party, or centralized financing of elections. The dynastic phenomenon is present at the national, state, regional, and district level. The Nehru–Gandhi family has produced three Indian prime ministers, and family members have largely led the Congress party since 1978. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also has several dynastic leaders. In addition to the major national parties, other national and regional parties such as Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), Shiromani Akali Dal, Shiv Sena, Samajwadi Party, Rashtriya Janata Dal, Janata Dal Secular, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, Kerala Congress, Jammu & Kashmir National Conference, Indian Union Muslim League, AIMIM, and the Nationalist Congress Party are all dominated by families, mostly those of the party founders.

Babulal Marandi is an Indian politician of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its Jharkhand unit president. He was the first Chief Minister of Jharkhand and formerly Leader of the Legislature Party of BJP in the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly. He was also the founder and national President of Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik), which he later merged with BJP. He was the Member of Parliament in 12th, 13th 14th and 15th Lok Sabha from Jharkhand. He was the Union State Minister (MoS) for Forests & Environment of India in the BJP – led National Democratic Alliance Government in 1998 to 2000. He was appointed as Jharkhand BJP president on 4 July 2023.

Earlier He won Bihar assembly elections in 2000, Feb-2005, October 2005 from Jalalpur. He represented Chapra seat since 2010 in Bihar assembly. He was also Minister of Labour Resources. He was a sports and youth minister in Nitish Kumar cabinet.

Janardan Paswan is an Indian politician and two-time elected member from Chatra Vidhan Sabha constituency to Bihar and Jharkhand assembly. First he was elected in year 1995 on the ticket of Janta Dal for Bihar legislative assembly. After the partition of state of Bihar into two states Bihar and Jharkhand on 14 November 2000, BJP won the Chatra seat twice. Then again in year 2009 assembly election Janardan Paswan got the mandate of people of Chatra on the ticket of RJD, and served his second tenure as MLA in Jharkhand legislative assembly.

Mahagathbandhan, also known as Grand Alliance is a coalition of political parties in the Eastern state of Jharkhand in India. It is the major political alliance in Jharkhand.

Suraj Mandal is an Indian politician and a member of the 10th Lok Sabha. Mandal was elected to the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Parliament of India from Godda, Bihar in the 1991 Indian general election as a member of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha by defeating a sitting member of Bharatiya Janata Party leader Janardan Yadav. Mandal was MLA in Bihar Vidhan Sabha from 1980 to 1991.

Mukesh Sahani is an Indian politician from Bihar. He served as the Minister for Animal Husbandry & Fisheries in the Government of Bihar till 27 March 2022. He is the founder of the Vikassheel Insaan Party, a political party in Bihar. He previously worked as a Bollywood stage designer. Sahani is also owner of a company named 'Mukesh Cineworld Private Limited'.
