The ICC Cricket Hall of Fame recognises "the achievements of the legends of the game from cricket's long and illustrious history". It was launched by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in Dubai on 2 January 2009, in association with the Federation of International Cricketers' Associations (FICA), as part of the ICC's centenary celebrations. The initial inductees were the 55 players included in the FICA Hall of Fame which ran from 1999 to 2003, but further members are added each year during the ICC Awards ceremony. The inaugural inductees ranged from W. G. Grace, who retired from Test cricket in 1899, to Graham Gooch, who played his last Test match in 1995. Living inductees receive a commemorative cap; Australian Rod Marsh was the first member of the initial inductees to receive his. Members of the Hall of Fame assist in the selection of future inductees.

Tarakai made his international debut at the 2014 ICC World Twenty20 tournament in Bangladesh. In domestic cricket, he scored more than 2,000 runs in first-class matches. He was part of the Afghan team that won the silver medal in the cricket tournament at the 2014 Asian Games.
Joshua Patrick Inglis is an English-born Australian cricketer who plays as a wicket-keeper and right-handed batsman. Inglis was born in Leeds, England, and moved to Australia with his family when he was 14. Inglis was a member of the Australian team that won the 2021 T20 World Cup, but did not play in the tournament. He made his international debut for the Australia cricket team in February 2022. In 2023, Inglis was a member of the squad that won the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup.

Shaheen Shah Afridi (Urdu: شاہین شاہ آفریدی; Pashto: شاهین شاه اپریدی is a Pakistani international cricketer and the former captain of the Pakistan national cricket team in the T20I format. He is also one of the prime bowlers of Pakistan. Under his leadership, Lahore Qalandars won their first PSL title in the 2022 season and again went on to win the 2023 season, becoming the first team in PSL history to successfully defend their title. He is the first Pakistani to win the Garfield Sobers Trophy.
William Trevor Lawrence is an American professional football quarterback for the Jacksonville Jaguars of the National Football League (NFL). Considered among the highest-touted college football prospects, he won the 2019 National Championship Game as a freshman with the Clemson Tigers and set the school's record for quarterback wins. Selected first overall by the Jaguars in the 2021 NFL draft, Lawrence had a breakout season in 2022 when he led the Jaguars to their first division title and playoff win since 2017.

The Pakistan cricket team toured England in August and September 2020 to play three Tests and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The Test series formed part of the inaugural 2019–2021 ICC World Test Championship. The first Test and the T20I matches were played at Old Trafford, and the second and third Test matches were played at the Rose Bowl. All of the fixtures were played behind closed doors due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The England cricket team toured Sri Lanka in January 2021 to play two Test matches. The Test series formed part of the inaugural 2019–2021 ICC World Test Championship. Originally, the tour was scheduled to take place in March 2020, but the series was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In December 2020, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed the dates for the tour, with both Test matches played in Galle.
The England cricket team toured the West Indies in January to play five Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The England team also returned to the Caribbean in March to play three Test matches. The Test series was the first time that the teams played for the Richards–Botham Trophy. The Test series formed part of the 2021–2023 ICC World Test Championship. In October 2021, the schedule for the tour was confirmed, with the T20I matches taking place in January 2022, and the Test matches taking place in March 2022. Despite England losing The Ashes 4–0 in January 2022, Joe Root remained as England's Test captain.
