Birendra Agrahari (also spells as Virendra) is a Nepalese playback singer who primarily sings in Nepali, Oriya, Hindi and Bhojpuri languages. He lent his voice for a debut Nepali film Undone By Love starring Dilip Rayamajhi and Jharana Bajracharya in 2004 which was released in Hong Kong and Nepal. [1]

Agrahari is a native of Butwal, Nepal. [2]

Career

Birendra made his film debut with a song for the movie Pareni Maya Jalaima (Undone By Love) in 2004. He sings for several Nepali films, albums and has performed in many stage shows and events. Birendra sang in the music album Rumal Chhod Jau. [3]

The film stars Nikhil Upreti, Priyanka Karki, Ashishma Nakarmi and Salon Basnet in the title roles, along with Pramod Agrahari and Shishir Bhandari. The film is about a man named Radhe who loves Priya but one day he leaves the village without anyone's notice then he joins the Nepalese army to fight for his country. The film was one of the successful film that was released that year and was successful at the box office, it was estimated the film earned 3 cores in two days.

The Nepali royal massacre occurred on 1 June 2001 at the Narayanhiti Palace, the then-residence of the Nepali monarchy. Nine members of the royal family, including King Birendra and Queen Aishwarya, were killed in a mass shooting during a gathering of the royal family at the palace. A government-appointed inquiry team named Crown Prince Dipendra as perpetrator of the massacre. Dipendra slipped into a coma after shooting himself in the head.

He started singing in 2014 and is known for his "textured, sandpapery" vocals. He released his eight-song debut album, Grahan, in early 2018. He released another album, KHOJ, in 2019 with singles including "Ma," "Khoj" and "Karnali ."

Uma is a 2013 Nepali drama film directed by Tsering Rhitar Sherpa. It stars Reecha Sharma, Saugat Malla, Mithila Sharma in the lead roles, alongside Dayahang Rai and Nischal Basnet. The film is about the Nepalese Civil War.
