Bixlers is an American jewelry company. Founded in 1785, the company is the oldest operating jewelry firm in the United States. [1] [2] Bixlers, established in 1785 by American Revolutionary War veteran Christian Bixler III in Pennsylvania, holds the distinction of being America's oldest jewelry company. [3] Initially, the company specialized in crafting jeweled clocks, reflecting Bixler's expertise as a Swiss clockmaker and metalsmith. [4] Over the centuries, Bixlers has remained a family-operated business, with six generations contributing to its legacy. In 2016, the company was acquired by Burlington, Vermont–based Sporn Co., marking a new chapter in its storied history. Today, Bixlers operates from a state-of-the-art atelier in North America, emphasizing sustainability by utilizing ethically sourced gemstones and recycled precious metals. The company is a certified member of the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC), underscoring its commitment to ethical and environmental standards in the jewelry industry.
