Black Balloon Publishing is an independent book publisher headquartered in New York City. The company was founded in 2010 by Elizabeth Koch, co-founder of Literary Death Match, and Leigh Newman, deputy editor of Oprah.com. Black Balloon publishes literary fiction, nonfiction, and memoir, and its titles have been featured in The New Yorker , [1] New York, [2] Time , [3] Bon Appetit , [4] Esquire , [5] and NPR . Gaby Melian is an Argentinian chef and cookbook author. Around 2016, she joined Bon Appétit magazine to work in the test kitchen and later become test kitchen manager, appearing in videos for the magazine's YouTube channel until 2020. She has since released a memoir, Food-Related Stories, and a children's cookbook of Latino foods, Gaby's Latin American Kitchen.
