Black Mozart is the fourth studio album by R&B singer-songwriter and producer Ryan Leslie, it was released on August 31, 2013. The album was released for free for whoever joined the Renegades - Leslie's own portal for fans. [1]

Promotion

On July 29, 2013, Leslie released a 25-minute documentary titled - Ryan Leslie presents BLACK MOZART, which showed him in Europe recording the album. [2] Then, on November 13, 2013, Leslie released a second 12-minute documentary titled - Ryan Leslie presents Black Mozart (Epilogue), which shows him recording the second half of the album. [3]

Commercial performance

As of August 7, 2015, the album has sold 15,000 copies. The number of albums sold mirrors the number of Renegades a part of Leslie's portal. [4]

t.A.T.u. were a Russian music duo that consisted of Lena Katina and Julia Volkova. The singers were part of children's music group Neposedy before being managed by producer and director Ivan Shapovalov and signing with Russian record label Neformat. t.A.T.u.'s debut album 200 Po Vstrechnoy (2001) was a commercial success in Eastern Europe, and that made the duo sign with Interscope Records to release its English-language counterpart, 200 km/h in the Wrong Lane (2002). Funky Monks is a 1991 documentary about the rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers and the recording of their highly successful 1991 Warner Bros. debut Blood Sugar Sex Magik. The album was produced by Rick Rubin and recorded in The Mansion, a supposedly haunted house which Rubin now owns. The 60-minute documentary, which was filmed in black-and-white, features footage of the band recording many of the tracks that made the album, and tracks that didn't make the album although would be released as singles and b-sides .It also features interviews from each member of the band, as well as Rick Rubin and the band's former and longtime manager, Lindy Goetz. Footage from the documentary was compiled for use in the "Suck My Kiss" music video, which was released in 1992. Funky Monks was originally released on VHS but was re-released on DVD. It was filmed and directed by Gavin Bowden.

The song contains elements from the composition "I Can't Help It" written by Stevie Wonder and Susaye Greene, as performed by Michael Jackson. Released as the second single from his self-titled debut album, Ryan Leslie (2009), it was sent to rhythmic and urban contemporary radio stations in the United States on July 7, 2008.
