Bleech were an English alternative rock band formed in London in 2009.
Sisters Jennifer and Katherine O'Neill got together with former school friend Matt Bick to form the band in 2009 in Forest Gate, London. They were soon noticed by former Food Records boss Andy Ross, and played at his Camden Crawl festival that year. [1]
One of the first venues the band played was the Ruskin Arms in Manor Park, London. The pub was renowned as the original rehearsal space for Small Faces and one of the first venues Iron Maiden played.
With the release of their first single, "Is It True That Boys Don't Cry?", Bleech swiftly gained approval from the music media, including places on the NME '10 Tracks You Have To Hear This Week' list, [2] NME Radio A-list, BBC Radio 6 playlist and Gill Mills' Best of Myspace list. [3] Their second single, "The Worthing Song", was also on the NME Radio A-list and Single of the Month in Clash Magazine . Clash also featured "Mondays" on a free download compilation album of their top tracks of the month. [4] By the end of 2009, Bleech had supported several top acts, including Wolfmother, The Charlatans, Pete Doherty, The Kooks and The Rifles.
In 2011, Bleech became the face of the Kangol Autumn/Winter 2011 campaign, which included a photo shoot with renowned music photographer Janette Beckman and a performance at the Aerial7 launch party in New York. [5] They also signed a worldwide publishing deal with Bucks Music Group that year and released their first EP, Deadhead.
In June 2012, Bleech released their first album, Nude. Days after the launch, they were announced as one of the support acts asked to perform at #ASH20, the 20th birthday celebration of Ash, hosted by Josie Long. Shortly after #ASH20, rock music magazine Kerrang! featured an article on Bleech. [6] In August 2012, Bleech played at the Y Not Festival and released their second EP, The Hippie & Me.
British super-middleweight boxer Frank Buglioni appeared in the band's "Break My Nose" video in October 2012. The video was nominated for Best Music Video at the Limelight Film Awards 2013. [7]
The Fédération des Radios Associatives Rock, a collection of independent French radio stations, listed Nude at number 15 on their Feraliste (a chart of the albums most played by their member stations) for April 2013. [8]
Their second album, Humble Sky, was released on 10 March 2014.
Green Day is an American rock band formed in the East Bay of California in 1987 by lead vocalist and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, together with bassist and backing vocalist Mike Dirnt. For most of the band's career, they have been a power trio with drummer Tré Cool, who replaced John Kiffmeyer in 1990 before the recording of the band's second studio album, Kerplunk (1991). Touring guitarist Jason White became a full-time member in 2012, but returned to his touring role in 2016. Before taking its current name in 1989, Green Day was called Sweet Children, and they were part of the late 1980s/early 1990s Bay Area punk scene that emerged from the 924 Gilman Street club in Berkeley, California. The band's early releases were with the independent record label Lookout! Records. In 1994, their major-label debut Dookie, released through Reprise Records, became a breakout success and eventually shipped over 10 million copies in the U.S. Alongside fellow California punk bands Bad Religion, the Offspring, Rancid, NOFX, Pennywise and Social Distortion, Green Day is credited with popularizing mainstream interest in punk rock in the U.S.
Lostprophets were a Welsh rock band from Pontypridd, formed in 1997 by singer and lyricist Ian Watkins and guitarist Lee Gaze. The band was founded after their former band Fleshbind broke up. They later recruited Mike Lewis on guitars and Mike Chiplin on drums.
Fightstar are a British rock band from London that formed in 2003. The band is composed of lead vocalist, guitarist and keyboardist Charlie Simpson, guitarist and co-vocalist Alex Westaway, bassist Dan Haigh and drummer Omar Abidi. Generally considered a post-hardcore band as a whole, Fightstar are known to incorporate metal, alternative rock and other genres into their sound. During the band's early days, they were viewed sceptically by critics because of Simpson's former pop career with Busted. Their live shows got a more positive reaction, and their 2005 debut EP, They Liked You Better When You Were Dead, was a critical success.
Sounds was a UK weekly pop/rock music newspaper, published from 10 October 1970 to 6 April 1991. It was known for giving away posters in the centre of the paper and later for covering heavy metal and punk and Oi! music in its late 1970s–early 1980s heyday.
Enter Shikari are a British rock band formed in St Albans in 1999 by bassist Chris Batten, lead vocalist and keyboardist Rou Reynolds, and drummer Rob Rolfe. In 2003, guitarist Rory Clewlow joined the band to complete its current line-up, and it adopted its current name. In 2006, they performed to a growing fanbase at Download Festival as well as a sold-out concert at the London Astoria. Their debut studio album, Take to the Skies, was released in 2007 and reached number 4 in the Official UK Album Chart, and has since been certified gold in the UK. Their second, Common Dreads, was released in 2009 and debuted on the UK Albums Chart at number 16; while their third, A Flash Flood of Colour, was released in 2012 and debuted on the chart at number 4. Both have since been certified silver in the UK. The band spent a considerable amount of time supporting the latter release through the A Flash Flood of Colour World Tour, before beginning work on a fourth studio album, The Mindsweep, which was released in 2015. Their fifth studio album The Spark was released in 2017. Their sixth album Nothing Is True & Everything Is Possible was released in April 2020. Their seventh and latest album, A Kiss for the Whole World, was released on 21 April 2023 which gave them their first-ever No. 1 album.
Noisettes are an English indie rock band from London, currently composed of singer and bassist Shingai Shoniwa and guitarist Dan Smith. The band first achieved commercial success and nationwide recognition with the second single of their second album, "Don't Upset the Rhythm " which reached number two on the UK Singles Chart in 2009.
Failsafe were an English melodic rock band formed in 2000. They are based in and around Preston, Lancashire, England. They released three albums independently, with their third produced by Dave Eringa.
Rolo Tomassi are a British mathcore band formed in Sheffield in 2005. Their name is a reference to dialogue from the film L.A. Confidential. The band are known for their chaotic style and performances, and strong DIY ethic. They are currently signed to MNRK Heavy.
Hadouken! were a British band formed in London in 2006 by singer, songwriter and producer James Smith and synth player Alice Spooner along with guitarist Daniel "Pilau" Rice, bassist Christopher Purcell and drummer Nick Rice. The band took its name from the special attack of the same name from the Street Fighter video game series. It was in Leeds that Hadouken! began their own record label, Surface Noise Records.

While she produces a lot of work on location, she is also a studio portrait photographer. Her work has appeared on records for the major labels, and in magazines including Esquire,Rolling Stone,Glamour,Italian Vogue,The Times,Newsweek,Jalouse,Mojo and others.
The A–Z Series is a series of singles released by Northern Irish rock band Ash. Consisting of 26 singles, each represented by a letter of the alphabet, the singles were first released on a fortnightly basis from 12 October 2009 until 27 September 2010 on 7-inch vinyl and by download. Along with the 26 primary singles the series also includes 21 B-sides, 13 remixes, 7 acoustic tracks and 2 live tracks which were sporadically released in various formats. The series was later released in various other formats, including two compilation CDs Volume 1 released on 19 April 2010 and Volume 2 released on 11 October 2010, a compilation of all 26 tracks on three vinyl LPs was released on 6 November 2012 through Noyes Records and finally a compact cassette featuring 15 of the band's favourite tracks from the series was released for Cassette Store Day, titled Letters from Alphabet City.
None the Less was an English band from Watford, Hertfordshire who originally formed in 2007.
Engine were a British boogie rock band formed in July 1979 in Birkenhead, near Liverpool, England.
Eureka Machines are a British pop rock band based in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England, who formed in 2007. The band consists of Chris Catalyst on lead vocals & guitar, Davros on guitar & backing vocals, Pete Human on bass guitar & backing vocals and Wayne Insane on drums. Described as "power pop" by Classic Rock magazine, they are something of a cottage industry, putting out their own records and being self-managing and self-promoting while also touring and gaining press coverage and airplay at a national level.
Films of Colour are an English alternative rock band, formed in 2008 at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford, Essex, England. They originally started gigging under the name of Spires but as there were other bands already established by this name, they later changed their name to Films of Colour. After seeing them at their second gig, they were taken under the wing of Phil Catchpole where he developed their sound and put them in the studio and finally on tour with Cage the Elephant. Paul Carey joined the band as a Co-Manager in 2009, but when Phil Catchpole left in 2010, Paul Carey continued on and took command as their sole manager. On 4 October 2010, the band released their first single "Actions" with the B-side "Circles" (both produced/mixed by Duncan "Pixie" Mills. The single was released digitally and on limited edition 7" Vinyl by Fierce Panda’s sister label – Label Fandango. The band's sound were compared to acts such as Radiohead, Muse, Coldplay, early Bloc Party and Swedish act – Miike Snow. Simon Williams, head of Fierce panda described the band "as the best band he's signed since Radiohead and Coldplay". Picked up as The Guardian’s New Band of the Day, Best of Myspace Winners, The Independent newspaper’s Barometer: One to Watch and Steve Lamacq’s Favourite New Band. There was radio support from 6 Music, Absolute Radio, BBC Radio 2 as well as holding the number 1 spot for two weeks on Amazing Radio
Never A Hero was a five-piece nu metal band formed in Sudbury, Suffolk, England in 2009. They self-released their debut EP, Socially Awkward in September 2010, produced by John Mitchell at Outhouse Studios in Reading. It contains five songs including "From Heroes To Angels", which received air time on Kerrang! and Scuzz TV and also "Trippin on Speed". In November 2012, they released their debut album, Bleed Between The Lies, through Cinderella Records / Musik and Film which the band signed to in early 2012. The album features 14 tracks, five of which are re-released versions of older demos featured on the band's Myspace.
Royal Blood are an English rock duo formed in Worthing, West Sussex in 2011. The current lineup consists of Mike Kerr and Ben Thatcher (drums). They were signed by Warner Chappell Music in 2013 and have since released three studio albums: Royal Blood (2014), How Did We Get So Dark? (2017), Typhoons (2021), with a fourth, Back to the Water Below, to be released in 2023.
Idles are a British rock band formed in Bristol in 2009. The band consists of Joe Talbot (vocals), Mark Bowen (guitar), Lee Kiernan (guitar), Adam Devonshire (bass) and Jon Beavis (drums). Their debut album, Brutalism, was released in 2017 to critical acclaim, as was their second album Joy as an Act of Resistance in 2018. Their third album, Ultra Mono, was released in 2020, followed by Crawler in 2021.
