Blind Mr. Jones were a British shoegazing band of the early 1990s, from Marlow, England. [1]
Blind Mr. Jones formed in 1991. The band's name is derived from the first two tracks of the Talking Heads album Naked . [2] The original lineup was Richard Moore (vocals, guitar), James Franklin (guitar), Will Teversham (vocals, bass guitar) and Jon White (drums). [3] They signed to Cherry Red.
The band's first EP, Eyes Wide, featured guitar parts written by Slowdive's Neil Halstead, while the Crazy Jazz EP featured harmonica from Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood. [4]
Flautist Jon Tegner was added after the first EP, giving the band a distinctive sound. [5]
The band released two albums on Cherry Red, Stereo Musicale (1992) and Tatooine (1994), before splitting up in 1994. [3]
Later compilations that collected the band's work were Spooky Vibes: The Very Best of Blind Mr. Jones (2005) and Over My Head: The Complete Recordings (2008). In 2017, Graveface Records released Stereo Musicale Retrospective, which included that entire album as well as singles and demos, for Record Store Day. [6] [7]
Manfred Mann were an English rock band, formed in London and active between 1962 and 1969. The group were named after their keyboardist Manfred Mann, who later led the successful 1970s group Manfred Mann's Earth Band. The band had two different lead vocalists, Paul Jones from 1962 to 1966 and Mike d'Abo from 1966 to 1969.
Lush were an English rock band formed in London in 1987. The original line-up consisted of Miki Berenyi, Emma Anderson, Steve Rippon and Chris Acland (drums). Phil King replaced Rippon in 1991. They were one of the first bands to have been described with the "shoegazing" label. Following the death of Acland, the group disbanded in 1996.

Naked is the eighth and final studio album by American rock band Talking Heads, released on March 15, 1988, by Sire Records. Following the more straightforward new wave and pop rock sound on Little Creatures (1985) and True Stories (1986), Naked marked a return to the worldbeat stylings of both Remain in Light (1980) and Speaking in Tongues (1983), blending elements of Afrobeat, Latin funk, and art pop. The album's songs were formed from improvisational jam sessions recorded in Paris, which featured the participation of numerous guest musicians such as former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr and singer Kirsty MacColl. Lyrics and vocals were then added in New York City following the Paris recordings.

Denson has recorded with artists including Jack DeJohnette, Dave Holland, Slightly Stoopid, Blind Boys of Alabama, Blackalicious, Stanton Moore, and Jon Foreman of the rock band Switchfoot. He continues to lead his own Karl Denson's Tiny Universe (KDTU) and Karl Denson Trio (KD3), while touring with the Rolling Stones since 2014 to date. Denson appears in the 1988 movie Coming To America and in the 2021 sequel Coming 2 America as the saxophonist in the fictional band Sexual Chocolate.
