The Girls Boarding School of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation [a] (GBS-MDRF) is a Russian educational institution for girls operated by Ministry of Defense of Russia. The school is a pre-university educational institution of the Cadet Corps (Russia).
The school was established in 2008 as part of the Strategy for the Social Development of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. The daughters of servicemen are trained in the boarding school from 5th to 11th grade, annually accepting 120 girls who are of at least 11 years of age. At the end of the school year, many girls have the choice of attending military and civilian universities in Russia and abroad. At the moment, more than 50 clubs (choreographic, vocal, musical, sports, theatrical, cooking, journalism, drummers group, and others) are active in the school. After classes on weekdays, as well as on weekends and holidays, the girls together with their educators make trips to the city, visiting theaters, museums, exhibitions and parks in Moscow. The clothes that cadets wear are sewn by famed Russian stylists such as Kira Plastinina and Valentin Yudashkin, while physical education exercises are developed by the Cosmonaut Preparation Center. The Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan is the unified armed forces of Kazakhstan. It consists of three branches as well as four independent formations. The Zhas Ulan Republican School named after Sagadat Nurmagambetov also known as the Astana Zhas Ulan Republican School is a military boarding school in Kazakhstan's Armed Forces which specializes in the training of Kazakh youth who want to join the military. It came into existence in 1999, and is named after Army General Sagadat Nurmagambetov, the first Defence Minister of Kazakhstan and one of the most notable Kazakh soldiers who took part in the Battle of Berlin.
Russian military bands fall under the jurisdiction of the Military Band Service of the Armed Forces of Russia, which is the official music service for the Russian Armed Forces, and led by the Senior Director of Music, a billet of an officer with the rank of a Colonel or a general officer. There are between 200 and 300 military bands in the Russian Armed Forces that span across the military as well as all uniformed services in the country. All bands, active or reserve, are composed of graduates from the military music training centers stationed anywhere in the country, as well as of civilian conservatories. While choirs may be attached to military bands, individual staff choirs do not exist in the Russian Armed Forces, since they have attached instrumental ensembles or orchestras. As of 2009, all military musicians are paid around 13,000 rubles ($169.65) for their service in the Armed Forces and other uniformed organizations.

In the early 1990s when the armed forces were rapidly being developed, many officers were trained in the Russian Federation's Ministry of Defense, while at least 300 officers were sent to schools in Turkey. The Moscow National Guard Presidential Cadets School named after Mikhail Sholokhov is a pre-university specialized educational institution of secondary education of the National Guard of Russia (Rosgvuardia). It is a Cossack, sponsored school, with Cossack traditions often being implemented. It is located on Marshal Chuykov Street in the Kuzminki District of the South-Eastern Administrative Okrug. Russian military-focused secondary schools are usual secondary schools conducting secondary general education programme (level 3 according International Standard Classification of Education. They provide their pupils with training in additional military-focused subjects. These schools don't prepare military personnel, and their graduates can choose either military or civilian way of life. These schools include: the Suvorov Military Schools, the Nakhimov Naval Schools and the Presidential Cadet Schools.
