Boat, usually stylized as BOAT, is an American indie rock band from Seattle, Washington. [1] [2] Their album Dress Like Your Idols was released in 2011 on Magic Marker Records [3] [4] and has received favorable reviews and notable press from major media outlets including Pitchfork Media, [5] and AllMusic. [6]

Contents

The band's sound has been compared to Built to Spill, The New Pornographers, and Superchunk. [7] BOAT's sixth studio album, Tread Lightly, was released on May 1, 2020 by Magic Marker Records. [8]

On March 19, 2020, D. Crane of BOAT began performing nightly on Instagram Live in response to the "Stay Home, Stay Health" order in Washington State. BOAT Song of the Night continued each weekday night through June 1st, a run of 53 shows. [9] The show features music from members of BOAT, fellow musicians such as Chris Ballew and Bob Nastanovich, author Lindy West and DJ Marco Collins. BSOTN resumed July 17, 2020 and continues sporadically.

On August 7, 2020, BOAT released the first singles from their quarantine collection, "Quartanteen Dreem." [10] The band released singles on each Bandcamp Friday that followed throughout 2020 with proceeds going to charities chosen by guest artists and collaborators.

Buzzoven is an American heavy metal band from Salisbury, North Carolina, formed in 1990. The band was known for being one of the founders of the sludge genre along with NOLA's Eyehategod and Acid Bath, and also for their out-of-control and violent live shows. The band in its early days toured heavily around the United States and built up a cult following leading up to the release of their debut album, To a Frown (1993), which caught the attention of Roadrunner Records, who released the band's second album Sore (1994). The band was dropped by Roadrunner, and from then on have gone through several periods of being split-up and reformed, with the only constant member having been Kirk Fisher. In 2018, the band toured the Southern US as one of the opening acts for Eyehategod.

Kill Your Idols is an American hardcore punk band from New York, active from 1995 through 2007 and again from 2013 to the present. They were signed to SideOneDummy Records. Their releases on SideOne were Funeral for a Feeling (2001), a split with 7 Seconds in 2004, and From Companionship to Competition (2005). Other notable releases by the band were No Gimmicks Needed and This Is Just The Beginning... which were released on Blackout! Records. The band released several 7-inch EPs, splits with other bands, multiple compilation tracks, and two full-length LPs in their 11-year run. Most of their records were released on vinyl as well as compact disc. Some were released on different colors of vinyl, different sleeve covers, hand numbered tour presses, and picture discs, making their records a favorite among collectors.

The Love This Giant Tour was a joint tour by American musicians David Byrne and St. Vincent. It started on 15 September 2012 in Minneapolis, United States, and ended on 12 September 2013 in Florence, Italy, after 74 concerts on 14 countries and 3 continents. The tour was officially announced along with Love This Giant, the album it promoted, on 14 June 2012. On the stage, they were accompanied by a backing band consisting of eight brass players, a keyboardist and a drummer. The performers engaged in complex choreography onstage while performing.

Finom is a rock band from Chicago, which singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist duo Sima Cunningham and Macie Stewart formed in 2014. Since 2016, Matt Carroll has been FINOM's drummer.

We Are the Union is an American ska punk band from Ann Arbor, Michigan formed in 2005. The band is now based out of Michigan, California and Florida. The band has had numerous lineup changes since its inception, with vocalist/guitarist Reade Wolcott and bassist Brandon Benson as the only remaining original members. As of 2022, their live lineup often features guest horn players and touring members.
