Cruella is a 2021 American crime comedy film produced by Walt Disney Pictures, Marc Platt Productions and Gunn Films with distribution by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. It is based on the character Cruella de Vil from Dodie Smith's 1956 novel The Hundred and One Dalmatians. Luis Sequeira is a Canadian costume designer of Portuguese descent. He is best known for his frequent collaborations with Mexican director Guillermo del Toro and has been nominated two times for an Academy Award for Best Costume Design on two of his films: The Shape of Water (2017) and Nightmare Alley (2021).

It had a limited theatrical release in the U.S. by Searchlight Pictures on June 25, 2021, before expanding and being released for streaming on Hulu the next weekend.

The awards were scheduled after their usual late February date to avoid conflicting with both the 2022 Winter Olympics and Super Bowl LVI, with the latter being held in nearby Inglewood, California.
