Pender County is a county located in the U.S. state of North Carolina. As of the 2020 census,the population was 60,203. Its county seat is Burgaw. Pender County is part of the Wilmington,NC Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Sonic the Hedgehog is an animated television series based on the video game series of the same name. Baron Pender,of Porthcurnow in the County of Cornwall,is a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. It was created in 1937 for the former Conservative Member of Parliament for Newmarket and Balham and Tooting,John Denison-Pender. He was the grandson of the businessman Sir John Pender,founder of a number of telegraph companies,Eastern Telegraph,Eastern and South African Telegraph,Europe and Azores Telegraph Company,Australasia and China Telegraph Company,London Platino-Brazilian Telegraph Company,Pacific and European Telegraph Company which later became Cable &Wireless. As of 2016 the title is held by the first Baron's great-grandson,the fourth Baron,who succeeded his father in 2016.

With the Swinging Blue Jeans,the Searchers tied for being the second group from Liverpool,after the Beatles,to have a hit in the US when their "Needles and Pins" and the Swinging Blue Jeans' "Hippy Hippy Shake" both reached the Hot 100 on 7 March 1964.
Jimmy Vivino and the Basic Cable Band was the house band for Conan O'Brien's late-night talk show Conan from its debut on November 8,2010 to the final episode of its 60-minute format October 4,2018. Guitarist and arranger Jimmy Vivino is the group's leader. The group was originally formed and led by drummer Max Weinberg in 1993,and played under the name The Max Weinberg 7 when it was the house band for Late Night with Conan O'Brien in New York through 2009. The band then played under Max Weinberg and The Tonight Show Band during their brief 2009–2010 stint on The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien in Los Angeles. They were then briefly known as The Legally Prohibited Band during their participation with O'Brien in the 2010 The Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television Tour.
William Dorsey Pender was a general in the Confederacy in the American Civil War serving as a brigade and divisional commander. Promoted to brigadier on the battlefield at Seven Pines by Confederate President Jefferson Davis in person,he fought in the Seven Days Battles and at Second Manassas,Fredericksburg,and Chancellorsville,being wounded in each of these engagements. Lee rated him as one of the most promising of his commanders,promoting him to major general at twenty-nine. Pender was mortally wounded on the second day at Gettysburg.

In 1925 he was vice-chairman and joint managing director of Cable &Wireless Ltd.,and governor of Cable &Wireless Holdings 1929–1945. In the years 1925-1940 he was a director of P&O,British-India Steam Navigation Company,National Provincial Bank,Eastman Kodak and Northern Assurance.
The Omaha Reservation of the federally recognized Omaha tribe is located mostly in Thurston County,Nebraska,with sections in neighboring Cuming and Burt counties,in addition to Monona County in Iowa. As of the 2020 federal census,the reservation population was 4,526. The tribal seat of government is in Macy. The villages of Rosalie,Pender and Walthill are located within reservation boundaries,as is the northernmost part of Bancroft. Due to land sales in the area since the reservation was established,Pender has disputed tribal jurisdiction over it,to which the Supreme Court ruled unanimously in 2016 that "the disputed land is within the reservation’s boundaries."

James F. Penders is the coach of the UConn Huskies baseball team. Penders began his time with the Huskies in 1991 as a player on the varsity team. In his senior year,he was named a co-captain and helped to lead the Huskies to victory in the 1994 Big East Conference baseball tournament. Penders was named an assistant coach of the Huskies in 1997 and became head coach after the 2003 season.

Carson Henry Smith Jr. is an American politician who is a Republican member of the North Carolina House of Representatives,having been initially elected in 2018. He has represented the 16th district since 2019. Smith previously served as sheriff of Pender County,from 2002 until 2018.
