Bob Walker is an American former Greco-Roman wrestler. He won a bronze medal at the 1979 World Wrestling Championships in the 100 kg+ weight class. [1]
Walker attended Fountain Valley High School in Fountain Valley, California, where he was a three-time league champion, a CIF Region champion and third place at the CIF Southern Section Championships. He wrestled collegiately at the University of Alabama, where he was a three-time Southeastern Conference champion. Following college, Walker was placed second in Greco-Roman wrestling at the 1976 U.S. Olympic Trails and was a bronze medalist for the United States at the 1979 World Championships.
Following his competitive career, he became a wrestling coach in Florida. His coaching career started at Seminole High School in 1979. Walker would also start the World Class Wrestling Club, where he served as head coach for 10 years. In 1994, Walker was named USA Wrestling Southeast State Chairperson of the Year, and two years later was named the National State Chairperson of the Year.
For his dedication and contributions to the sport of wrestling, Walker was named to the Florida Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2003. [2] He was inducted into the California Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2015. [3]
Rulon Ellis Gardner is an American retired Greco-Roman wrestler. He won the gold medal at the 2000 Olympic Games, defeating Russia's three-time reigning Olympic gold medalist Aleksandr Karelin in the final; Karelin was previously unbeaten for 13 years in international competition. Gardner won a bronze medal at the 2004 Games. In 2010, he was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame as a Distinguished Member.
David Lesley Schultz was an American Olympic and World champion freestyle wrestler, and a seven-time World and Olympic medalist. He coached individuals and teams at the college level and also privately.
Bradley Bert "Brad" Rheingans is an American former Greco-Roman wrestler and professional wrestler. He was a member of the United States' Greco-Roman wrestling teams for the 1976 and 1980 Summer Olympics, as well as winning two gold medals in the 1975 and 1979 Pan American Games and a bronze medal in the 1979 World Wrestling Championships.
Armen Nazaryan is an Armenian Greco-Roman wrestler who later represented Bulgaria. Nazaryan is a two-time Olympic Champion, a three-time World Champion, and a six-time European Champion. After Armenia regained independence in 1991, Nazaryan became the first Olympic gold medalist for the country. He was recognized by the FILA as the best wrestler of the year in 1998 and 2003. In 2007, Nazaryan was inducted as a member of the FILA Hall of Fame.
William Alfred Robinson was an English professional wrestler, amateur wrestler, and coach. Robinson was one of the leading practitioners of catch wrestling, a national champion in freestyle wrestling, and a professional wrestling world champion. As a wrestler, Robinson had a successful career in Britain and internationally, especially in Japan. He was known for training professional wrestlers and mixed martial artists in the catch wrestling style, including Josh Barnett, Kazushi Sakuraba, Kiyoshi Tamura, and Shayna Baszler. His favourite saying as a coach was "do it again", which came from his trainer Billy Riley. Robinson acted in several movies including The Wrestler and inspired the fictional manga/anime character Robin Mask.
James "Chico" Hernandez is an American martial artist who competes in the sport of Sambo. He was the first Sambo champion to be featured on a box of Wheaties Energy Crunch and CNN/SI "Faces In the Crowd".
The National Collegiate Wrestling Association (NCWA) is a nonprofit association of 162 institutions, conferences, organizations and individuals that organize the wrestling programs of many colleges and universities in the United States and Canada. It is led by founder and executive director Jim Giunta headquartered in Dallas, Texas and built to help the promotion of collegiate wrestling.

The Cyclones are 8 time National Champions, 17 time National Runners-Up, and have 45 Trophy Finishes. The team is coached by Kevin Dresser. The Cyclones host their home meets at Hilton Coliseum on Iowa State's campus. Iowa State became the second collegiate wrestling program to reach 1,100 dual wins on January 23, 2022.
Joe DeMeo was an American wrestling coach. He was the head coach of several United States world teams, and coached Olympic champion Dave Schultz. DeMeo founded the Adirondack Three-Style Wrestling Association which created multiple Greco-Roman champions. He resided in Niskayuna, New York after his retirement.
Dremiel Byers is an American former Greco-Roman wrestler. Byers joined the World Class Athletes Program (WCAP) in 1996 and was the 2002 World Champion in Greco-Roman wrestling at 120 kg. In total, Byers won three World medals and was a two-time Olympian. He was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame as a Distinguished Member in 2021.
Mnatsakan Iskandaryan is a former Armenian Greco-Roman wrestler who competed for the Soviet Union and Russia. Iskandaryan is an Olympic Champion, three-time World Champion, and two-time European Champion. He earned the rank Honoured Master of Sports of the USSR in 1991 and was named Honoured Coach of Russia in 2000. In 2012, Iskandaryan was inducted into the FILA Hall of Fame as the sole Greco-Roman inductee. He's the second Armenian to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, after Armen Nazaryan.
Grigory Aleksandrovich Gamarnik was a world champion wrestler and the first Greco-Roman wrestling world champion from Ukraine.
James "Jim" Martinez is an American former wrestler. He was born in Osseo, Minnesota. Martinez was an Olympic bronze medalist in Greco-Roman wrestling at the 1984 Summer Olympics. Martinez did professional wrestling in Minnesota for the American Wrestling Association in 1984. He also won a bronze medal at the 1985 World Wrestling Championships.
Bob Anderson is an American former wrestler and coach. Anderson was born in Oakland, California and raised in Redondo Beach, California.
Alan Rice is an American former wrestler and coach. He competed in the men's Greco-Roman featherweight at the 1956 Summer Olympics. He was also a silver medalist at the 1955 Pan American Games in freestyle wrestling, competing in the 63 kg weight class. He was an AAU national champion in both freestyle and Greco-Roman. Rice wrestled collegiately at the University of Minnesota, where he was a NCAA All-American in 1949.
Andre Metzger is an American former wrestler. He competed at 62 and 68 kilograms in freestyle wrestling, where he racked up numerous medals from the World Championships and the World Cup, as well as championships from the Pan American Games. In college, Metzger was a two-time NCAA Division I National champion and a four-time All-American at the University of Oklahoma.
Mike Houck is an American former Greco-Roman wrestler. In 1985, he became the first American to win a World Championship in Greco-Roman wrestling, winning the 90 kg title.
