Bojana Dornig

Bojana Dornig (born 7 August 1960 in Ljubljana [1] ) is a former Slovenian alpine skier who competed for Yugoslavia.

Dornig had two top-10 finishes in the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup, she finished 7th in Piancavallo and 9th in Bormio, Italy, both in December 1980. [1] She was chosen as the Slovenian Sportwoman of the Year 1981. [2]

FIS Alpine Ski World Cup

The FIS Alpine Ski World Cup is the top international circuit of alpine skiing competitions, launched in 1966 by a group of ski racing friends and experts which included French journalist Serge Lang and the alpine ski team directors from France and the USA. It was soon backed by International Ski Federation president Marc Hodler during the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 1966 at Portillo, Chile, and became an official FIS event in the spring of 1967 after the FIS Congress at Beirut, Lebanon. She was initially banned from skiing because a qualifying race for her benefit was alleged to be corrupt, but the Court of Arbitration for Sport later nullified the ban, citing lack of evidence for her own wrongdoing or any manipulation. The International Ski Federation later had to issue an apology to her.

FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2021

The FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2021 were held from 8–21 February in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy. In May 2020, the Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI) and the event organizing committee asked the International Ski Federation (FIS) to postpone the event until 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the request was rejected by FIS, and the organizers then moved forward with plans for 2021.

Ludvig Dornig was a Slovenian alpine skier. He competed in three events at the 1956 Winter Olympics, representing Yugoslavia. He died in 1996 and his grandson is Slovenian tennis player Blaž Kavčič.

Alpine skiing at the 2022 Winter Olympics was held at the Yanqing National Alpine Ski Centre in Yanqing District, China. The competitions took place from 6 to 20 February 2022.

The men's giant slalom competition of the Beijing 2022 Olympics was held on 13 February, on "Ice River" course at the Yanqing National Alpine Ski Centre in Yanqing District. Marco Odermatt of Switzerland won the event. Žan Kranjec of Slovenia won the silver medal, and Mathieu Faivre of France bronze. For all of them, they got their first Olympic medals.

Kaitlyn Vesterstein is an alpine skier, who competed at the 2022 Winter Olympics. Born in the United States, Vesterstein now competes for Estonia, and she also competes for the University of Utah college team.
