Lakshmi Rajagopalan (born 12 March 1959) is a leading Carnatic vocalist in India.
Lakshmi was born in Matunga, a suburb in Mumbai, to Mrs. Radha and Mr. T. V. Panchapakesan. She has four sisters who have also been honed in music. She started learning music at the age of 3 from her mother and was equally well supported by her father. She did her graduation in Commerce from Mumbai University and C.A.I.I.B. from Indian Institute of Bankers. She completed a 5-year music course at Bharatiya Music & Fine Arts, in Mumbai. Later she underwent 2 years of advanced and rigorous training in Raagam, Thanam and Pallavi under the tutelage of Smt T.R. Balamani.
At the tender age, she won a major competition and awarded a prize at the age of eight from Bharat Ratna M. S. Subbulakshmi.
She was in managerial cadre with Bank of Baroda and took VRS to pursue her career in Carnatic Music.
Lakshmi does not keep any notes or hints during the Kacheri which reveal the depth in Carnatic knowledge. Her voice is majestic and soothing. Her singing style follows the traditions of legendary Carnatic singers such as Semmangudi mama, MS, DKP to name a few.
Smt. Lakshmi Rajagopalan has sung in various popular stages and in many TV channels including Jaya TV, Amrita TV, Sri Shankara, SVBC, DD Podhigai and Asianet. She has performed in All India Radio & Doordarshan Kendra as an ‘A’ Grade Artist. She has already performed twice in national program in AIR and Doordarshan. Being residing in Navi Mumbai she regularly performs in almost all popular sabha's in Mumbai and other states in India and abroad. She has also conducted lecture cum demonstrations in Mumbai at Shivali Cultural Society, Kalamanjari and at Navarasa Music Academy.
Her voice lends itself well to the Indian Carnatic classical songs. She has sung in more than seven languages including Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada, Telugu, Marathi and Sanskrit through her long career in music. She encourages several young and budding students who often accompany her as supporting artists in Mrudangam, Kangira, and Thavil.
Lakshmi has won several gold medals and also the prestigious Tambura prize in various competitions conducted by Music Academy, Indian Fine Arts Society, Chennai, Sri Shanmukhananda Fine Arts Mumbai and other Sabhas.
She has participated in All India Inter Bank Music competition and has always won the first prize and the rolling trophy.

She has been conferred the title of “Asthana Vidhushi” & awarded the title of “Sangeeta Visharada” by Sri Sri Jagadguru Sankaracharya of Badari Sakatapuram Sreevidya Peetam.
She also has been conferred of “Sangeeta Sevamani” by Sri Sri Jagadguru Jayendra Saraswathi of Kanchi kamakoti Peetam.
She has also been conferred the title of “Asthana Vidushi” by Sri Sri Jagadguru Vanamamalai Jeeyar Swamigal, Nanguneri.
She has also been conferred the title of “Sangeetha Kovidha” from Gayathri Fine Arts, New Delhi.
She has also been conferred the title of “Sangeetha Bhushana” by Sriranjani Sangeetha Sabha, Mumbai.
She has also been conferred the title of “Guru Seva Rathna” from Anushathin Anugraham at the hands of Mr. Indira Soundar Rajan.

Madurai Thirumalai Nambi Seshagopalan is a noted Carnatic singer, musician and composer. He was awarded the Madras Music Academy's Sangeetha Kalanidhi in 2006. As well as being a master of the veena and harmonium, he is an exponent of harikatha.
Kadri Gopalnath was an Indian alto saxophonist and one of the pioneers of Carnatic music for that instrument.
Padmasree Avasarala Kanyakumari is a violinist from South India who specializes in Carnatic music.
Sanjay Subrahmanyan is a Carnatic musician and vocalist from Chennai, India. He was awarded the Madras Music Academy's Sangeetha Kalanidhi in 2015.
Sudha Ragunathan is an Indian Carnatic vocalist, singer and composer. She was conferred the Kalaimamani award by the Government of Tamil Nadu in 1994, Padma Shri (2004) and Padma Bhushan (2015) by the Government of India, and Sangeetha Kalanidhi by Madras Music Academy in 2013.
Ganesh and Kumaresh are an Indian duo of violinists who are a part of the Carnatic music fraternity. The brothers are known as modern contemporary artists in "Sastriya Sangitam". They were awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2018 for Carnatic Instrumental Music (Violin). Kumaresh's wife, Jayanthi Kumaresh, is a noted Veena player.
Ghatam Giridhar Udupa is an Indian percussionist and a leading exponent of the ghatam. He is one of the members of Layatharanga, a team of Indian classical musicians who have embarked on the task of blending different forms of classical, folk and world music. In 2015 he founded and has since served as the director of The Udupa Foundation, a registered charitable trust with the aim of promoting music, performing arts and culture.
Nedunuri Krishnamurthy was an Indian Carnatic vocalist. He was awarded the Madras Music Academy's Sangeetha Kalanidhi in 1991.
"Bombay" Jayashri Ramnath is an Indian Carnatic vocalist, singer, and musician. She has sung songs in multiple languages, including for Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi movies. Born into a family of musicians, Jayashri represents the fourth generation of music practitioner's in her family. Trained by Lalgudi Jayaraman and T.R. Balamani. She was awarded India's fourth highest civilian award, the Padma Shri, in 2021. In December 2023, she was awarded the most prestigious award in the Carnatic Music Field, the Sangeetha Kalanidhi, by the Madras Music Academy. She was nominated for Academy Award for Best Original Song (Oscar) for Pi's Lullaby from Life of Pi movie. She has become one of the most sought-after Carnatic musicians today.
Umayalpuram Kasiviswanatha Sivaraman is an Indian musician and exponent of the Carnatic percussion instrument, the mridangam. He is a recipient of the Padma Vibhushan as well as the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award.
Nisha P. Rajagopalan, is a Carnatic musician. Her mother, Vasundhara Rajagopal, is an established disciple of Gopala Iyer, a descendant of Koteeswara Iyer, the prominent composer. Nisha commenced her training in vocal music from her mother, and later received training from T. R. Subramaniam, Calcutta Krishnamoorthy, Suguna Varadachary, and P. S. Narayanswamy.

The Bombay Sisters, C. Saroja and C. Lalitha (26 August 1938 – 31 January 2023), were an Indian Carnatic music singing duo. They received the Padma Shri, India's fourth highest civilian honour, in 2020.

Nagai Muralidharan is a Carnatic violinist from India. He was awarded Kalaimamani by the State Government of Tamil Nadu in 2003.
Sundar Geetha Rajashekar is a Carnatic singer from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. She is an All India Radio (AIR) and Doordarshan artiste. She is on the panel of artistes selected by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), New Delhi.
Salem K. Meera is a Carnatic musician in Salem. She is well-versed in vocal, veena and keyboard. Meera has composed many swarajathis, varnams, thilanas and Tamil songs. She has been running a music school named after her parents, Sri Gowri Kanakasabapathy Gana Vidya Nilayam, at her residence since 2 February 1977 and has continually trained thousands of students in Carnatic vocals, veena and keyboard. The school encourages a lot of group study with a good guru–student relationship. She has been the joint president of Salem Sangeetha Vidwath sabha for the past three years. She also served as the president of the sabha for six years and secretary for six years, as well as committee member and vice president for 12 years. She is an active and creative participant in the sabha activities. She has been performing in the Salem sabha from 1950 until now (2011).

Asthana Vidushi is an honorary title bestowed to a court musician or dancer in India. Notable Asthana Vidushis include Bangalore Nagarathnamma, Aruna Sairam, Bombay Sisters, M. S. Sheela, Geetha Raja, as well as Srirangam Gopalaratnam, Shobha Raju, and S. Sowmya.
Ramakrishnan Murthy is a Carnatic Music vocalist from India. He regularly performs in the annual Madras Music Season besides being featured in music festivals world over that focus on Indian Classical music. He is an A-grade artist of the All India Radio and Doordarshan, Chennai.
