Boone Drugs is a drug store chain with 15 locations in North Carolina and Tennessee.
Boone Drug Company began operation in downtown Boone, North Carolina in 1919. The business was founded and operated by Dr. George Kelly Moose until 1959. In 1939 the business was incorporated in North Carolina. The single store served as a pharmacy and soda fountain; in the 1950s the soda fountain operation grew and a grill was added by expanding into the adjacent A&P Store. [1]
The popularity of the soda fountain increased further in the 1980s and a rear addition to the building was created in order to accommodate 50 people. [2]
Soda jerk is an American term used to refer to a person — typically a young man — who would operate the soda fountain in a drugstore, preparing and serving soda drinks and ice cream sodas. The drinks were made by mixing flavored syrup, carbonated water, and occasionally malt powder over either ice or a few scoops of ice cream. The drink would then be served in a tall glass with a long-handled spoon, most commonly known as a "soda spoon", and drinking straws.

The McGill Drug Store Museum is a former drug store in McGill, Nevada. It operated from 1915 to 1979. The store closed when the nearby Kennecott Copper mine closed down, with its entire inventory intact, including prescription medication. It has been re-opened as a museum with more than 30,000 items as well as prescription records extending back to 1915. The museum is a resource for investigators of retailing and historical pharmacy practices.
A banana split is an American ice cream-based dessert consisting of a peeled banana cut in half lengthwise, and served with ice-cream and sauce between the two pieces. Queen City Drug Company was a drugstore business established in Charlotte, North Carolina. It was incorporated in 1892 and was the first Black owned and operated store in the city. It had a soda fountain. It was established by partners John Taylor Williams, Manassa T. Pope and R.B. Tyler. It was one of the city's most successful African American businesses in the 1890s. Pope's house in Raleigh, now the Pope House Museum, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Taylor Company, previously known as Taylor Freezer Corporation, is an American manufacturer of food service equipment located in Rockton, Illinois. They are known as the supplier and maker of several machines that McDonald's uses, including their grills and many of their ice cream machines. Although known for soft serve machines, the company also offers commercial grills, frozen and carbonated beverage units, frozen cocktail machines, batch freezers, smoothie equipment, and shake equipment.
