The company's former name, Boora Architects, was derived from the names of now-retired foundational partners Broome, Oringdulph, O'Toole, Rudolf, and Associates. [1] In 2021, Bora and Ennead Architects' Phil and Penny Knight Campus for Accelerating Scientific Impact at University of Oregon (Eugene, Oregon) was recognized with an American Institute of Architects Education Facility Design Award. [2]

Thom Mayne is an American architect. He is based in Los Angeles. In 1972, Mayne helped found the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc), where he is a trustee and the coordinator of the Design of Cities postgraduate program. Augustus Warren Gould was an architect in Boston and Seattle, as well as surrounding areas of the Pacific Northwest including Canada. Gould was born in Nova Scotia, in Canada. He moved from Boston to Seattle by 1905. His firm's work in downtown Seattle included the American Savings Bank and Empire buildings (1906) which were the second and third concrete reinforced structures in the United States ever built. He also designed the King County Courthouse in downtown Seattle. Gould was not formally trained as an architect. His background was in building and contracting.
