Iain Murray Rose, was an Australian swimmer, who swam for the University of Southern California, and worked as an actor, sports commentator and marketing executive. He was a six-time Olympic medalist, and at one time held the world records in the 400-metre, 800-metre, and 1500-metre freestyle. He made his Olympic debut at the 1956 Summer Olympics as a 17-year-old and won three Olympic medals, all gold. Four years later, as a 21-year-old, he won three Olympic medals at the 1960 Summer Olympics.
Vladimir Valeryevich Salnikov is a Russian former freestyle swimmer who set 12 world records in the 400, 800 and 1,500 metre events. Nicknamed the "Tsar of the Pool", "Monster of the Waves" and "Leningrad Express", he was the first person to swim under fifteen minutes in the 1500 m freestyle and also the first person to swim under eight minutes in the 800 m freestyle. He was named the Male World Swimmer of the Year in 1979 and 1982 by Swimming World.
Lorraine Joyce Thurlow,, née Crapp, is a former Olympic swimming champion representing Australia. In world swimming history, Crapp earned a place as the first woman to break the five-minute barrier in the 400 m freestyle.
Tsuyoshi Yamanaka was a Japanese freestyle swimmer. He competed in the 400 m, 1500 m and 4 × 200 m events at the 1956, 1960 and 1964 Olympics and won four silver medals; he also helped Japan win a bronze relay medal in 1964 by swimming in the heat, and placed fourth in the 4 × 200 m relay in 1956 and in the 1500m in 1960. At the 1960 Olympics, he swam the fastest leg in the 4 × 200 m relay, yet his team lost to the United States. Yamanaka won the 400 m and 1500 m events at the 1958 Asian Games.
John Malcolm Henricks is an Australian Olympic swimmer who won two gold medals at the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne. Henricks set world records in two freestyle events.
John Thomas Devitt, AM was an Australian sprint freestyle swimmer of the 1950s and 1960s, who won a gold medal in the 100-metre freestyle at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome. He won in controversial circumstances, being awarded the gold medal despite the timekeepers recording a slower time than the American silver medallist Lance Larson. He also claimed a gold medal at the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, in the 4×200-metre freestyle relay.
Kevin O'Halloran was an Australian freestyle swimmer of the 1950s who won a gold medal in the 4×200-metre freestyle relay at the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne.
John Konrads was an Australian freestyle swimmer of the 1950s and 1960s, who won the 1500 m freestyle at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome. In his career, he set 26 individual world records, and after his swimming career ended, was the Australasian director of L'Oréal, as well as campaigning for the Sydney Olympics bid. Along with his sister Ilsa, who also set multiple world records, they were known as the Konrads Kids.

Ian MacIntosh Black is a Scottish former competitive swimmer who represented Great Britain in international competition, including the Olympics and European championships, and Scotland in the Commonwealth Games, during the late 1950s and early 1960s.
George Prifold Harrison was an American competition swimmer, Olympic champion, and former world record-holder in three events. He competed at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome, where he received a gold medal as the lead-off swimmer of the winning U.S. team in the 4×200-meter freestyle relay. Harrison, together with his American relay teammates Dick Blick, Mike Troy and Jeff Farrell, set a new world record of 8:10.2 in the event final.
Danila Sergeevich Izotov is a Russian swimmer, a member of the Russian National team since 2008, and a multiple medalist at the Olympic Games and World Championships, as well as a European champion. He is coached by his father, Sergey Alexandrovich Izotov. He is the nephew of soviet swimmer Elvira Vasilkova.
Jean Boiteux was a French freestyle swimmer. He competed at the 1952, 1956 and 1960 Olympics and won the 400 m event in 1952, breaking the Olympic record and becoming the first French swimmer to win an Olympic gold medal. During his career he won 15 national titles and set 15 national and 10 European records in the 200 m, 400 m, 1500 m and 4 × 200 m events.
Federico "Fritz" Dennerlein was an Italian freestyle and butterfly swimmer and water polo player who competed in the 1956, 1960 and 1964 Summer Olympics. He finished fourth in the water polo tournaments in 1956 and 1964, and in the 200 m butterfly event in 1960. He also reached the finals of the 4 × 200 m freestyle (1956) and 4 × 100 m medley (1960) relays.
MariaLeontievna Itkina was a Soviet runner who set multiple world records in various sprint events. She competed at the 1956, 1960, and 1964 Olympics and finished four times in fourth place. Domestically Itkina held 17 Soviet sprint titles.
Cornelia Hendrika Schimmel is a Dutch former swimmer who won a gold and silver medal at the 1958 European championships. Two years later she competed at the 1960 Summer Olympics and finished sevenths in the 400 m freestyle. Between 1957 and 1960 she won five national titles in the 400 m and 1500 m freestyle. In 1959–1960 she also set 10 European records in the 200–1500 m events.
Udo Poser is a German former swimmer. He competed at the 1968 and 1972 Summer Olympics and won a bronze medal in the 4 × 100 m freestyle relay in 1972 by swimming for the East Germany team in the preliminary round. He finished in fifth and sixth place in the 4 × 100 m freestyle relay in 1968 and in the 4 × 200 m freestyle relay in 1972, respectively, whereas individually he failed to reach the finals in the 200 m and 400 m freestyle.
Gennady Ivanovich Androsov was a Ukrainian swimmer. He won a gold medal in the individual 400 m medley at the 1962 European Aquatics Championships, and set a world record in the same event in 1957. In the 1500 m freestyle discipline, he won a bronze medal at the 1958 European Aquatics Championships and competed at the 1956 and 1960 Summer Olympics. He was a national champion in the 400 m (1961), 1500 m and 4×200 m freestyle (1961) and 400 m medley events.
Vitaly Ivanovich Sorokin was a Russian swimmer, who competed at the 1956 and 1960 Summer Olympics. He won a bronze medal in 1956 and finished eighth in 1960 in the 4 × 200 m freestyle relay. In 1956 he set a world record in the 4 × 200 m freestyle relay. Between 1956 and 1959 he also set 6 European and 18 national records in freestyle relay events.
Igor Georgiyevich Luzhkovsky was a Russian swimmer who won a gold medal in the 4 × 200 m freestyle relay at the 1958 European Aquatics Championships. He also competed at the 1960 Summer Olympics and finished fifth in the 4 × 100 m medley and eights in the 4 × 200 m freestyle relay. In 1959 he won two gold medals at the Summer Universiade and a national title in the 100 m freestyle, setting a new national record. Between 1958 and 1960 he also set three European records.
