Borislav Slavov (born 1973) is a Bulgarian composer. He has composed for a number of video games, including for Crytek's Crysis series and Larian Studios' Divinity: Original Sin II and Baldur's Gate 3 . [1]

Early life

Slavov was born in 1973 in Sofia, Bulgaria. [2] In 2002, he completed a master's degree in computer science and began working for a software company, but eventually switched fields to music. [3] Slavov has stated that his experience in IT helped him in his later career as a video game composer, but not being classically trained was challenging and meant he had to catch up. [4]

Works

Slavov composed the soundtrack for Baldur's Gate 3 , for which he won the award for best music from the British Academy Games Award. [5] [6] He has also composed for Crysis 2 , Crysis 3 , Ryse: Son of Rome , Warface and Divinity: Original Sin II . [7] [1] Knights of Honor was the first commercial title he composed for. [7] [8]

Baldur's Gate is a series of role-playing video games set in the Forgotten Realms Dungeons & Dragons campaign setting. The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) EE Game of the Year, formerly EE Mobile Game of the Year is an audience voted award presented annually at the British Academy Games Awards honouring "the best game of the year, as voted for by the public". The award is sponsored by the telecommunications company EE and winners receive a special solid yellow BAFTA statuette as opposed to the standard golden statuettes given to the recipients of other categories.

The 20th British Academy Video Game Awards were hosted by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts on 11 April 2024 to honour the best video games of 2023. Held at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London, the ceremony was hosted by comedian Phil Wang for the first time. Nominations were announced on March 7, 2024, with epic fantasy roleplaying game Baldur's Gate 3 earning a leading eleven nominations. Charity SpecialEffect was honoured with the BAFTA Special Award for their work in making gaming more accessible to people with physical disabilities. Baldur's Gate 3 received the most wins at the ceremony, with five including Best Game.
