Borneo SubOrbitals was a public-private spaceflight venture created in 2019. In 2022, the project was replaced by SPACE educational programme in collaboration with MEASAT Satellite Systems which allows students to launch rockets in virtual reality. [3] [4] [5]

History

This venture involved several tertiary institutions and a local social enterprise, which consists of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), University of Malaya (UM) and Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP), with the collaboration of social enterprises such as The Learning Curve, The Hills Lifestyle Community Lifestyle Hub and a company named Strand Aerospace Malaysia. Each party will be responsible for rocket research, design, assembly and launch. UTP will be handling simulations and electronics design, while UM will be handling static and dynamic structural analysis and rocket material selection and UNIMAS will manufacture and assemble the rocket, with the supervision and consultancy of Strand Aerospace Malaysia. Hybrid rocket suborbital project

The project aimed to launch a hybrid-fueled suborbital rocket from Kuching to reach an altitude of 55 km by the year 2022. The rocket will be equipped with sensors and telemetry to collect atmospheric and ocean data for researchers working at MOSTI. The rocket is then projected to land in the ocean after completing its mission. [6] The previous rocket launch was a flight test by a teenager in Kuching that reached 5 km in altitude in October 2018. [7] The suborbital rocket will also be gradually contributed to by students through competitions. [8]

MEASAT-3b is a communications satellite which MEASAT Satellite Systems operates in geosynchronous orbit at 91.5 degrees east longitude, co-located with MEASAT-3 and MEASAT-3a, with orbital period of 1436.1 minutes and orbital speed of ~3.08 km/s. It was built by Astrium, based on the Eurostar spacecraft platform, with an investment of approximately MYR1.25bn ($370m), and the 5th MEASAT satellite in orbit. Its weigh 5,897 kilograms at liftoff and is 6.6 by 2.8 by 2.3 meters in dimensions in its stowed config and spanned across 39.4m in orbit. Sarawak exhibits notable diversity in ethnicity, culture, and language. The Sarawakian culture has been influenced by Bruneian Malays of the coastal areas. Substantial cultural influences also came from the Chinese and British cultures.

WIRES is a Japanese project developing a winged single-stage reusable suborbital rocket as a test bed for a reusable orbital launch system or a crewed suborbital spaceplane. The full-size prototype, called WIRES-X, is expected to be launched in 2020.

bluShift Aerospace American aerospace firm

BluShift Aerospace is an employee-owned American aerospace firm based in Brunswick, Maine. Targeting the growing smallsat and cubesat launch markets, bluShift is developing suborbital sounding rockets and small-lift orbital rockets which will be launched from a proposed new spaceport in Maine. The company has received primary funding from NASAs SBIR grant program, the National Science Foundations I-Corps grant program, the Maine Technology Institute, and the Maine Space Grant Consortium. The company has active operations at the former Brunswick Naval Air Station and Loring Air Force Base.

The company was founded by Simon Gwozdz and Praveen Ganapathi Perumal in 2017 in Singapore, with the goal to develop low-cost, safe and eco-friendly space launch vehicles.
