Bornholms Amt ('Bornholm County') is a former county (Danish: amt ) on the island of Bornholm in easternmost Denmark.
The county was established in 1662, replacing the former Hammershus Len. It was the only county unchanged by the administrative reforms of 1793 and 1970 consequently occupying the same territory from 1662 until 2002. Before the reform in 1970 there were 21 municipalities on the island, of which 6 market city municipalities (Danish: købstadskommuner) and 15 parish municipalities (sognekommuner).
The 6 market city municipalities were supervised by the county, differing from the situation in the rest of Denmark where the market city municipalities were supervised by the Interior ministry. This distinction ended in 1970, and since then only the term kommune (municipality) is used.
Decided in a referendum on the island May 29, 2001, as of January 1, 2003, the county and the island's five municipalities merged forming the new Bornholm Regional Municipality (Bornholms Regionskommune). It is supervised by the State Administration of Greater Copenhagen (Statsforvaltningen Hovedstaden).

Bornholm is a Danish island in the Baltic Sea, to the east of the rest of Denmark, south of Sweden, northeast of Germany and north of Poland.
Ertholmene is a small archipelago in Denmark. The largest island is Christiansø, and its name often refers to the entire archipelago. Ertholmene is situated 18 kilometres (11 mi) northeast of Gudhjem, Bornholm, and contains Denmark's easternmost point. Two of its islands, Christiansø and Frederiksø, are inhabited, and their combined permanent population is 93. The archipelago has a total area of 39 hectares. Its name is derived from the Danish for "pea islands".
Hasle is a town and a former municipality on the west coast of the Baltic island of Bornholm, Denmark. Its population is 1,638 The former municipality covered an area of 115 km2 (44 sq mi), and had a total population of 6,382. It is now included in the municipality of Bornholm. With its pleasant setting, smokehouses, galleries and harbour, the town attracts many tourists.
Nexø, sometimes spelled Neksø, is a town on the east coast of the Baltic island of Bornholm, Denmark. With a population of 3,674, it is the second largest town, as well as the largest fishing port on the island. Fishing was previously the mainstay of the town's economy. Nexø is also the site of a distillery and a mustard factory. The town is also a port of call for the passenger ferries linking Bornholm with Kołobrzeg in Poland. Dueodde, the largest beach on Bornholm, is located south of Nexø, in the southeastern corner of the island.
Rønne is the largest town on the Danish island of Bornholm in the Baltic Sea. It has a population of 13,798. It was a municipality in its own right from 1970 until 2002, when Bornholm was a county. It has an area of 29.11 square kilometres, and is the administrative centre of the Bornholm municipality. As of 2018 11,539 inhabitants live in Rønne Parish, which is a narrow piece of land on the westernmost of the island and stretching north and southward comprising around a third of the area of the former municipality. Knudsker Parish made up the rest of the former municipality. Not all inhabitants of either Rønne or Knudsker (400-7553) parishes live in the city of Rønne.
Funen County is a former county in central Denmark, comprising the islands of Funen, Langeland, Tåsinge, Ærø, and approximately 90 other islands, of which only 25 are inhabited. The county was formed on 1 April 1970, comprising the former counties of Odense and Svendborg. The county was abolished from 1 January 2007, when it merged into Region of Southern Denmark.
Amt is a type of administrative division governing a group of municipalities, today only in Germany, but formerly also common in other countries of Northern Europe. Its size and functions differ by country and the term is roughly equivalent to a US township or county or English shire district.
The Counties of Denmark were former subdivisions of metropolitan Denmark and overseas territories, used primarily for administrative regions, with each county having its own council with substantial powers. Originally there had been twenty-four counties, but the number was reduced to roughly fourteen in 1970 – the number fluctuated slightly over the next three decades. In 2006 there were thirteen traditional counties as well as three municipalities with county status. On 1 January 2007 the counties were abolished and replaced by five larger regions which, unlike the counties, are not municipalities.
Until January 1, 2007 Rudkøbing Municipality was a municipality in the former Funen County, on the central parts of the island of Langeland. It also included the islands of Strynø, Strynø Kalv and a number of small uninhabited islands. The municipality covered an area of 62.94 km2, and had a total population of 6,647 (2006). Its last mayor was Johan Norden, a member of the Social Democrats political party.
Until 1 January 2007 Korsør Municipality was a municipality in the former West Zealand County, on the southwestern coast of the island of Zealand, in eastern Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 74.25 km2, and had a total population of 20,873 (2006). Its last mayor was Flemming Erichsen, a member of the Social Democrats.
Until January 1, 2007 Skælskør Municipality was a municipality in the former West Zealand County, on the southwestern coast of the island of Zealand, in eastern Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 170.02 km2, and had a total population of 11,928 (2006). Its last mayor was Hans Ole Drost, a member of the Venstre.
The Capital Region of Denmark is the easternmost administrative region of Denmark.
The five Regions of Denmark were created as administrative entities at a level above the municipalities and below the central government in the public sector as part of the 2007 Danish Municipal Reform, when the 13 counties (amter) were abolished. At the same time, the number of municipalities (kommuner) was cut from 270 to 98. The reform was approved and made into a law by the lawmakers in the Folketing 26 June 2005 with elections to the 98 municipalities and 5 regions being held Tuesday 15 November 2005.
Odense County is a former province in Denmark, located on the northern half of the island of Funen in central Denmark. Odense County was established in 1806 and abolished in 1970 when it merged with Svendborg County forming the new Funen County.
Trafikselskabet Movia is the public transport agency that is responsible for buses and certain local railways in Copenhagen and the part of Denmark east of the Great Belt, covering the regions Sjælland and Hovedstaden, except for Bornholm, which is a 100% owner of BAT, formerly, before 1 January 2003, transit agency Bornholms Amts Trafikselskab. It does not own any buses and trains itself, but pays subcontractors to run them. It is a part owner of train company Lokaltog. It has an integrated fare system in collaboration with the Copenhagen metro and DSB, which means that the same tickets are valid on all buses and trains.
The Copenhagen metropolitan area or Metropolitan Copenhagen is a large commuter belt surrounding Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark. It includes Copenhagen Municipality, Frederiksberg and surrounding municipalities stretching westward across Zealand. It has a densely-populated core surrounded by suburban settlements.
Aakirkeby Municipality is a former municipality of Denmark which existed from 1970 until 2007. Its administrative region is today part of Bornholm Municipality.
Denmark is divided into five regions, which contain 98 municipalities. The Capital Region has 29 municipalities, Southern Denmark 22, Central Denmark 19, Zealand 17 and North Denmark 11.
Paradisbakkerne, also Helvedesbakkerne, is a group of hills in Denmark, located in the east of the island of Bornholm. It is situated approximately 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) northwest of Nexø. The privately owned area consists of hilly, rocky landscapes with narrow rift valleys lined by almost vertical cliffs, making it popular for nature walks. Typically, the hills rise to a height of 30–50 metres (98–164 ft) above the surroundings in a forested area which also has a number of small lakes and marshes. Midterpilt, 113 metres (371 ft) above sea level, is one of the highest points. Although much of the area is now wooded, it was once covered with heather and low shrubs, making it suitable for grazing. Paradisbakkerne has a long cultural history, attested by numerous place names with their own legends and stories. These include Slingestenen, Linkisten, Ligstenen, Dybedal, Ravnedal, Majdal, and Gamle Dam.
Until January 1, 2007 Nyborg Municipality was a municipality in the former Funen County, on the east coast of the island of Funen, in central Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 83.57 km2, and had a total population of 19,134 (2006). Its last mayor was Jørn Terndrup, who was a member of the Venstre party.
