Vejle County (Danish : Vejle Amt) is a former county (Danish: amt ) on the east coast of the Jutland peninsula in southern Denmark. The county was abolished effective January 1, 2007, when it was divided between Region Midtjylland (i.e. Region Central Jutland) and Region of Southern Denmark. Vejle became the seat of the latter region.

A bog body is a human cadaver that has been naturally mummified in a peat bog. Such bodies, sometimes known as bog people, are both geographically and chronologically widespread, having been dated to between 8000 BCE and the Second World War. The unifying factor of the bog bodies is that they have been found in peat and are partially preserved; however, the actual levels of preservation vary widely from perfectly preserved to mere skeletons.
South Jutland County is a former county on the south-central portion of the Jutland Peninsula in southern Denmark.
Jens Jacob Asmussen Worsaae was a Danish archaeologist, historian and politician, who was the second director of the National Museum of Denmark (1865–1874). He played a key role in the foundation of scientific archaeology. Worsaae was the first to excavate and use stratigraphy to prove C. J. Thomsen's sequence of the Three-age system: Stone, Bronze, Iron. He was also a pioneer in the development of paleobotany through his excavation work in the peat bogs of Jutland. Worsaae served as Kultus Minister of Denmark for Christen Andreas Fonnesbech from 1874 to 1875.
Vejle is a city in Denmark, in the southeast of the Jutland Peninsula at the head of Vejle Fjord, where the Vejle River and Grejs River and their valleys converge. It is the site of the councils of Vejle Municipality (kommune) and the Region of Southern Denmark. The city has a population of 61,310 making it the ninth largest city in Denmark. Vejle Municipality has a population of 120,949 making it the fifth largest municipality in Denmark. The city is part of the Triangle Region, which includes the neighbouring cities of Kolding and Fredericia and it is located 110 kilometres north of Germany.
Jelling is a railway town in Denmark with a population of 3,769, located in Jelling Parish, approximately 10 km northwest of Vejle. The town lies 105 metres above sea level.
The Region of Southern Denmark is an administrative region of Denmark established on Monday 1 January 2007 as part of the 2007 Danish Municipal Reform, which abolished the traditional counties ("amter") and set up five larger regions. At the same time, smaller municipalities were merged into larger units, cutting the number of municipalities from 271 before 1 January 2007 to 98. The reform diminished the power of the regional level dramatically in favor of the local level and the central government in Copenhagen. The Region of Southern Denmark has 22 municipalities. The reform was implemented in Denmark on 1 January 2007, although the merger of the Funish municipalities of Ærøskøbing and Marstal, being a part of the reform, was given the go-ahead to be implemented on Sunday 1 January 2006, one year before the main reform. It borders Schleswig-Holstein (Germany) to the south and Central Denmark Region to the north and is connected to Region Zealand via the Great Belt Fixed Link.
Vejle Municipality is a municipality (kommune) in the Region of Southern Denmark on the Jutland peninsula in southeast Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 1,058.43 km2 (408.66 sq mi) (2013), and has a population of 120,949. Its mayor is Jens Ejner Christensen, a member of the liberal party Venstre. Vejle Municipality's offices are located in its largest population center, the city of Vejle.
Until 1 January 2007 Give municipality was a municipality in Vejle County on the Jutland peninsula in southeast Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 403 km2, and had a total population of 14,090 (2005). Its last mayor was Villy Dahl Johansen. The main town and the site of its municipal council was the town of Give.
Until 1 January 2007, Børkop municipality was a municipality in Vejle County on the east coast of the Jutland peninsula in southeast Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 103 km2, and had a total population of 11,478 (2005). Its last mayor was Leif Skov, a member of the Social Democrats (Socialdemokraterne) political party.

The municipality covered an area of 325 km2, and had a total population of 15,302 (2005). Its last mayor was Sonny Berthold, a member of the Venstre political party. The main town and the site of its municipal council was the town of Egtved.
Jelling municipality was, from 1970 until 1 January 2007, a municipality in Vejle County on the Jutland peninsula in south-west Denmark. In 2007 it merged into the newly formed Vejle municipality.
Until 1 January 2007 Tørring-Uldum municipality was a municipality in the former Vejle County on the Jutland peninsula in central Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 189 km², and had a total population of 12,519 (2005). Its last mayor was Kirsten Terkelsen, a member of the Venstre political party. The site of its municipal council was the town of Uldum. The largest town in the municipality was Tørring.
The Haraldskær Woman is the name given to a bog body of a woman preserved in a bog in Jutland, Denmark, and dating from about 490 BC. Workers found the body in 1835 while excavating peat on the Haraldskær Estate. The anaerobic conditions and acids of the peat bog contributed to the body's excellent preservation. Not only was the intact skeleton found, but so were the skin and internal organs. Scientists settled disputes about the age and identity of this well preserved body in 1977, when radiocarbon dating determined conclusively that the woman's death occurred around the 5th century BC.
Triangle Region Denmark is a cooperation consisting of seven Danish municipalities on the Danish peninsula of Jutland and the island of Funen: Billund, Fredericia, Haderslev, Kolding, Middelfart, Vejen and Vejle.
Aabenraa County is a former province in Denmark, located on the east-central region of Southern Jutland. Aabenraa County was established in 1920 following the reunification of Denmark and South Jutland following the Schleswig Plebiscites. It was dissolved in 1970 when it merged with three other counties to form South Jutland County. Aabenraa County corresponded geographically to the former Prussian Kreis Apenrade combined with the larger part of Bov Parish and Frøslev municipality. Both were transferred from Kreis Flensburg with the establishment of the current Danish-German border. Aabenraa County and Sønderborg County merged in 1932, forming Aabenraa-Sønderborg County.
Windeby I is the name given to the bog body found preserved in a peat bog near Windeby, Northern Germany, in 1952. Until recently, the body was also called the Windeby Girl, since an archeologist believed it to be the body of a 14-year-old girl, because of its slight build. Prof. Heather Gill-Robinson, a Canadian anthropologist and pathologist, used DNA testing to show the body was actually that of a sixteen-year-old boy. The body has been radiocarbon-dated to between 41 BC and 118 AD.
St. Nicolai Church in Vejle, Denmark is a Lutheran church. The building is dating to the 13th century. Originally built in late Romanesque style and dedicated to the patron saint of merchants and seafarers, the church is the oldest building in the community. Renovations in the 15th century developed the church into a Gothic hall with two transepts and a tower 27.2 m (89 ft) high.

Givskud is a little town in southern Jutland with a population of 605. The town is located in Vejle Municipality in the Region of Southern Denmark.
Vejle River is an approximately 32-kilometre-long (20 mi) river in Vejle Municipality in Denmark. Its source is Engelsholm Lake near the village of Nørup. It first runs south to converge with the Egtved River near the village of Egtved, then flows northeast for 20 kilometres (12 mi) through the Vejle River Valley until it reaches the city of Vejle. There, the river meets the Grejs River and then empties into Vejle Fjord. Vejle River Valley and Vejle Fjord together form the longest tunnel valley in eastern Jutland. The lower river has an urban character where it runs through downtown Vejle, while the upper river is rural and is used for fishing and recreation.
