Bowling Green City Schools is a school district in northwest Ohio, the United States. The school district serves students who live in the city of Bowling Green located in Wood County including the villages of Portage, Rudolph, Sugar Ridge, Milton Center and Custar.

It is the second largest school district in Wood County, after Perrysburg Exempted Village School District.

History

Dr. Ann McVey took over as Superintendent in January 2011, replacing Hugh Caumartin who retired in December 2010 after 13½ years as Superintendent. In 2009, Bowling Green Middle School opened for students in grades 7 and 8. The former Junior High that once stood on W. Wooster Street was demolished in 2012 and is now used as the Wooster Green. [1]

In Fall of 2019 the Bowling Green Middle School began using virtual reality headsets to teach history classes. [2]

Kenwood Elementary has 490 students as of 2014. [5] [6]

History

On April 9, 2013, which was Arbor Day, the fifth grade students of the school were involved in helping with the maintenance of existing trees in Bowling Green. At the end, a sugar maple tree was planted on the south side of the school. [7]

On November 8, 2013, Kenwood Elementary received a call from Bowling Green Police Division at 11:45 a.m and was locked down. Nobody was injured during the incident. [8]

Anderson Arena is an indoor arena located in Memorial Hall on the campus of Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio, and is currently home to the Bowling Green Falcons women's gymnastics team. The arena, which opened in 1960, served as the home arena for the Bowling Green men's and women's basketball teams and women's volleyball team until 2011. Following their season finales in 2010 and 2011, the teams moved into the newly built Stroh Center on the east side of campus. It originally had a seating capacity of 4,700 people for basketball games. For gymnastics meets, the capacity is 2,800.

Canyons School District is a school district in the southeastern portion of Salt Lake County in Utah, United States. The district includes the cities of Cottonwood Heights, the Salt Lake County section of Draper, Midvale and Sandy and the townships of Alta, Brighton and White City. Residents of those communities voted to create the district in 2007, making Canyons the first school district to be formed in the state in almost a century. Canyons has approximately 34,000 students in 50 schools. There are 29 elementary schools, eight middle schools, five traditional high schools, and eight special programs schools, including one technical school, a special education school and a high school for adults in prison. The district covers 192 square miles and employs 6,000 people.
