Bramwith railway station was a small station on the South Yorkshire Railway's line between Doncaster and Thorne. It served the village of Kirk Bramwith, near Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England. The original line followed closely the canal bank coming close to the village.
The original station was opened with the line on 7 July 1856 and closed on 1 October 1866. With the new "straightened" line being further from the village this station was not resited.

Hatfield is a town and civil parish in the Metropolitan Borough of Doncaster in South Yorkshire, England. It had a population of 17,236 at the 2011 Census. The town is located on the A18 road between Doncaster and Scunthorpe, and to the west of the M18 motorway. It shares a railway station with Stainforth on the line between Goole and Scunthorpe, and Doncaster. Recorded history in the parish extends as far back as 730, when Bede wrote about the Northumbrian King, Edwin, being killed in battle in the area.
The South Yorkshire Joint Railway was a committee formed in 1903, between the Great Central Railway, the Great Northern Railway, the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway, the Midland Railway and the North Eastern Railway to oversee the construction of a new railway in the Doncaster area of South Yorkshire, England. The five companies had equal rights over the line, each of the companies regularly working trains over it.
The Wakefield line is a railway line and service in the West Yorkshire Metro and South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive areas of northern England. The Wakefield line is coloured yellow on maps and publications by West Yorkshire Metro. The line was electrified in 1989, between Leeds & Wakefield Westgate, as part of the programme to electrify the East Coast Main Line.
The New Junction Canal is a canal in South Yorkshire, England. It is part of the Sheffield and South Yorkshire Navigation (S&SYN), although it was jointly funded by the Aire and Calder Navigation, and was opened in 1905. It links the River Don Navigation and the Stainforth and Keadby Canal with the Aire and Calder Navigation. It is completely straight, and was the last canal built in England for commercial purposes.
The Stainforth and Keadby Canal is a navigable canal in South Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, England. It connects the River Don Navigation at Bramwith to the River Trent at Keadby, by way of Stainforth, Thorne and Ealand, near Crowle. It opened in 1802, passed into the control of the River Don Navigation in 1849, and within a year was controlled by the first of several railway companies. It became part of the Sheffield and South Yorkshire Navigation, an attempt to remove several canals from railway control, in 1895. There were plans to upgrade it to take larger barges and to improve the port facilities at Keadby, but the completion of the New Junction Canal in 1905 made this unnecessary, as Goole could easily be reached and was already a thriving port.

Access to the station was by a subway under the G.C. line.

Mexborough Halt was a small railway station on the South Yorkshire Railway's line between Barnsley and Doncaster in South Yorkshire, England. It was intended to serve the township of Mexborough and the village parish of Old Denaby where it was situated, the boundary being the River Don. It was close by the Ferry Boat crossing of the river and the swing bridge over the canal, a short distance from the original centre of Mexborough, around where the parish church now stands.

Bramwith (WR&G) railway station, which was named Barnby Dun on opening, believed to be 1872, due to its close proximity to the village of that name, took the name Bramwith,, from the village of Kirk Bramwith, near Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England although it was over two miles away. This was possibly to avoid confusion with the station rebuilt on the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway's straightened line between Doncaster and Thorne. The station was also closer to the village of Thorpe-in-Balne, to the north, than Kirk Bramwith. It was located at the level crossing near the junction of North Field Lane with Bramwith Lane, east of the River Don Navigation.
The River Don Navigation was the result of early efforts to make the River Don in South Yorkshire, England, navigable between Fishlake and Sheffield. The Dutch engineer Cornelius Vermuyden had re-routed the mouth of the river in 1626, to improve drainage, and the new works included provision for navigation, but the scheme did not solve the problem of flooding, and the Dutch River was cut in 1635 to link the new channel to Goole. The first Act of Parliament to improve navigation on the river was obtained in 1726, by a group of Cutlers based in Sheffield; the Corporation of Doncaster obtained an Act in the following year for improvements to the lower river. Locks and lock cuts were built, and, by 1751, the river was navigable to Tinsley.

It was reached by a triangular junction from the main line just outside town. The station was set at the north end of town, just beyond the Doncaster Avoiding Line, in the fork of the old A1 and the A19.
Thorpe-in-Balne railway station was an unopened railway station on the Hull and Barnsley and Great Central Joint Railway. It was situated about 1 mile (1.6 km) from the village of Thorpe in Balne, South Yorkshire, England adjacent to the road and some 6 miles (10 km) north of Doncaster.
The Hull and Doncaster Branch is a secondary main railway line in England, connecting Kingston upon Hull to South Yorkshire and beyond via a branch from the Selby Line near Gilberdyke to a connection to the Doncaster–Barnetby line at a junction near Thorne 8 miles north-east of Doncaster.
Kirk Bramwith is a civil parish in the metropolitan borough of Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England. The parish contains eleven listed buildings that are recorded in the National Heritage List for England. Of these, one is listed at Grade II*, the middle of the three grades, and the others are at Grade II, the lowest grade. The parish contains the villages of Kirk Bramwith and Braithwaite and the surrounding countryside. Most of the listed buildings are houses, farmhouses and farm buildings, and the others consist of a church, items in the churchyard, and a bridge.
