The Bremer Domchor (Bremen Cathedral Choir) is a mixed choir at the Protestant Bremen Cathedral in Bremen, Germany.

History

The first choir at the Dom was founded in 1684 by the theologian and church musician Laurentius Laurentii  [ de ], who was responsible for music at the Domschule Bremen  [ de ] and the Dommusik. Today's choir was founded in 1856 by Heinrich Kurth (1828–1872), the music teacher at the Domschule. He was succeeded by Carl Martin Reinthaler (1857–1893), Eduard Nößler  [ de ] (from 1893), Richard Liesche  [ de ] (1930–1957), Hans Heintze (1957–1975), Wolfgang Helbich (1976–2008) and Tobias Gravenhorst  [ de ] (from 2008).

The choir has around 120 members. They perform six to eight concerts per year, also many services. Several events have been recorded or broadcast. The choir has performed in the US and Israel, and several times in France, Italy and Eastern Europe.

Theater Bremen state theatre

Theater Bremen is a state theatre in Bremen, Germany, with four divisions for opera, plays, dance, and student programs. Its venues are located in a city block, connected in architecture and seating up to 1,426 spectators. The theatre has drawn international attention since 1962 with innovative play productions in the Bremer Stil. Its opera company was selected as opera house of the year by Opernwelt in 2007.

Domshof

The Domshof is a town square in Bremen, north of the cathedral and the Marktplatz. The Domshof is used for markets as well as larger outdoor events, particularly May Day demonstrations.

The Aachener Domchor is the oldest boys' choir in Germany and one of the oldest in the world. Based in Aachen, the former capital of the Carolingian Empire, the choir is sometimes also identified using its Latin name, Cappella Carolina. The choir's origins stretch back more that 1200 years, to the court of Charlemagne and its choir school which the emperor founded together with Saint Alcuin of York and which was known at that time as the Schola Palatina, the "Palatinate Choir".

The Bremer Philharmoniker is the official orchestra of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen. In addition to the music theatre in the Theater Bremen they organise 28 Philharmonic concerts per season, various special, benefit and chamber concerts as well as many projects in the field of music education. Christian Kötter-Lixfeld is the artistic director of the Bremen Philharmonic Orchestra, and Marko Letonja has been its Generalmusikdirektor since the 2018/2019 season.
