Brenda Coultas is an American poet.

Life

She was raised in Indiana, often working odd jobs such as welding. [1]

She graduated from Naropa University, studying with Anne Waldman and Allen Ginsberg. Coultas also taught at Naropa University.

She moved to New York City in 1994. With Eleni Sikelianos, she worked at the Poetry Project in NYC, edited the Poetry Project Newsletter

In 2003, she was a visiting poet at Long Island University. She lives in the Bowery. [2]

Her work has also been published Brooklyn Rail, [3] Trickhouse, the Denver Review, and in two collections: An Anthology of New (American) Poets (Talisman 1996), and conjunctions 35 "American Poetry: States of the Art" (Fall 2000). [4]

Anne Waldman is an American poet. Since the 1960s, Waldman has been an active member of the Outrider experimental poetry community as a writer, performer, collaborator, professor, editor, scholar, and cultural/political activist. She has also been connected to the Beat poets.

Naropa University

Bob Holman

Bob Holman is an American poet and poetry activist, most closely identified with the oral tradition, the spoken word, and poetry slam. As a promoter of poetry in many media,Holman has spent the last four decades working variously as an author, editor, publisher, performer, emcee of live events, director of theatrical productions, producer of films and television programs, record label executive, university professor, and archivist. Allison Adelle Hedge Coke is an American poet and editor. Her debut book, Dog Road Woman, won the American Book Award and was the first finalist of the Paterson Poetry Prize and Diane DeCora Award. Since then, she has written five more books and edited eight anthologies. She is known for addressing issues of culture, prejudice, Indigenous rights, the environment, peace, violence, abuse, and labor in her poetry and other creative works.

Victor Hernández Cruz is a Puerto Rican poet. In 1981, Life magazine named him one of America's greatest poets.

Mark Nowak is an American poet, as well as cultural critic, playwright and essayist, from Buffalo, New York. Nowak is a professor in the English Department at Manhattanville College in Purchase, NY.

Raymond McDaniel is an American poet, author of four poetry collections, all published by Coffee House Press: The Cataracts (2018), Special Powers and Abilities (2013), Saltwater Empire (2008), and Murder (2004).
