Brett Hearn (born September 1, 1958) is a semi-retired modified stock car driver from Kinnelon, New Jersey. [5] He currently serves as race director at Orange County Fair Speedway

Hearn has amassed 919 wins in a stock car over the course of his professional career which has spanned four decades. He won his first-ever Modified feature event at Nazareth Speedway and was the last Modified driver to score a win on the half-mile track because weeks later, the track was torn down to make way for a strip mall and grocery store. [6] He competed in twenty NASCAR Busch Series events in his career, spanning from 1985 to 1989, using the same chassis in every race. He earned just one top-ten: a 10th at Dover International Speedway and earned his best points finish of 41st in 1986. [7]

Personal life

Born in Paterson, New Jersey to parents Gordon and Kay, Hearn got his first taste of racing when he was 8-years old at the Orange County Fair Speedway in Middletown, NY. Brett began driving go-karts and when he turned 16, his father Gordon encouraged Brett to try stock car racing. His dad bought a car from Glen Carlson and the Hearn's built the engine in their family room. Brett crashed his No. 20 blue-and-silver Pinto-body car the first time out and a number of other times. [9]

He currently resides in Vernon Township, New Jersey. [10] He has two children, Brooke (born 4/11/92) Tyler (born 6/18/95). He is the owner of BH Enterprises, Inc. which consists of his racing team, fabrication shop, driving school and performance equipment manufacturer. Besides racing his other hobbies and interests include jet skiing, golfing and fishing. [10]

Nazareth Speedway is a defunct auto racing facility in Lower Nazareth Township in the Lehigh Valley region of eastern Pennsylvania, which operated from 1910 to 2004. The racing facility operated in two distinct course configurations. In its early years, it was a dirt twin oval layout. In 1987, it was reopened as a paved tri-oval that measured just slightly under 1 mile.

South Boston Speedway, or "SoBo", is a short track located just outside South Boston, Virginia. SoBo is located approximately 60 miles (97 km) east of another area familiar to most NASCAR fans, Martinsville. It is owned by Mattco, Inc., the Mattioli family trust that owns Pocono Raceway, with general manager Brandon Brown operating the track, replacing Cathy Rice who retired in 2021 after serving in that role for 21 years and Chase Brashears who was in the role for two years. NASCAR's three national series have raced at the track, though the Cup Series has not done so since 1971, while the Busch Series last raced there in 2000. After the Busch Series left the schedule, the Craftsman Truck Series competed at SoBo for a few years between 2001 and 2003. The SRX Series visited the track in 2022.

Brett Elias Bodine III is an American former stock car racing driver, former driver of the pace car in Cup Series events, and current NASCAR employee. Brett is the younger brother of 1986 Daytona 500 winner Geoff Bodine and the older brother of 2006 and 2010 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion Todd Bodine. He was born in Chemung, New York. Brett has been named one of the 50 greatest NASCAR modified drivers of all time, was the runner-up for the 1986 Xfinity Series championship, and collected a total of five Xfinity Series wins and sixteen pole positions. Brett made 480 Cup series starts with one win and five pole positions. He has led over 1,000 career laps in both the NASCAR Cup series and the NASCAR Xfinity series.

Orange County Speedway is a 38 mile (0.60 km) asphalt oval in Orange County, North Carolina, near Rougemont. It first opened in 1966 as a 14 mile (0.40 km) and a 58 mile (1.0 km) dirt oval, which operated until 1967 and 1973, respectively. The facility was reopened and paved in 1983. With a slogan of "the fastest 3/8-mile race track in America," the oval features 19-degree banking through the turns and 16 degrees on the straightaways, creating three distinct grooves making for very fast turns. The aluminum grandstands stretch from Turn 4 all the way down the front straightaway to Turn 1. The speedway closed in 2003 but reopened on March 11, 2006.

Orange County Fair Speedway is a 0.625 mi (1.006 km) dirt oval speedway in Middletown, Orange County, New York. The facility used to hold weekly stock car races and demolition derbies during the summer months. The track was built in 1857 for horse racing at the Orange County Fair and staged its first automobile race on August 16, 1919. The fair began as an agricultural exhibit in 1843 and was permanently located in the Wallkill–Middletown area in 1857. The speedway is located at 239 Wisner Avenue in Middletown on land which was known as The Ogden Tract in the mid-1850s. It was originally a half-mile horse racing track known as the Harry Clay Oval, named after a race horse that was famous at that time. Over the years, the track was widened and lengthened to a true 5/8-mile race track.
