Brett Wood (born 31 March 1980) is an Australian musician based in Melbourne.
Wood attended Montmorency Secondary College and grew up in the north/eastern suburb of Greensborough. At the age of 14 Wood began teaching himself guitar and soon came to the attention of well known guitar legend Tommy Emmanuel CGP[ clarification needed ] who took Wood to America to play at the 1994(?) Chet Atkins Appreciation Society Convention. Wood had the honour of meeting and playing for Chet Atkins and was asked to return to the convention the following year to perform at the convention. Wood won the Young Guitarist of the Year Award at the Frankston International Guitar Festival.[ when? ]
At the age of 20 Wood released his first solo instrumental album "Turn It Up..." and completed a promo tour for this album across Australia. The album was reviewed by Australian Guitar Magazine as "sheer guitar wizardry".[ citation needed ] Before he turned 21 Wood had toured with Tommy Emmanuel, Keith Urban, Dianna Corcoran, Harper,[ who? ] and Australian country acts including Carter & Carter, Mike Carr and Brendon Walmsley.[ citation needed ] Wood is now[ when? ] an endorser of Fender Guitars and Amplifiers.[ citation needed ] Wood has recorded on many Australian albums and has appeared on well known TV shows including: Good Morning Australia, Dancing with the Stars, Today, The Footy Show (AFL & NRL), and Rove.[ citation needed ]
In 2009 Wood co-wrote "Outta Here" with Australian vocalist Michelle Berner who won the Vega 30+ Suburban Superstar competition. [1] The song was recorded at Chong Lim's (John Farnham's Musical Director) studio and was added to the Vega play list gaining much praise and support from fans and music industry professionals.[ citation needed ] Wood was the Lead Guitarist for Australian Singer/Songwriter Pete Murray and toured both with the full band and also as an acoustic duo with Pete across Australia, Europe and the UK.[ citation needed ]
Wood accompanied Pete Murray to Los Angeles where they recorded original Blue Sky Blue release (not the Byron Sessions version).[ citation needed ] There they recorded at Sunset Sound with legendary producer Tom Rothrock known for his involvement with the Foo Fighters, Beck, Elliott Smith and James Blunt. Wood performed guitar on all tracks and also co-wrote two songs that made the final cut, "Tattoo Stained" and "Hold It All For Love". [2]
In 2011 Wood played guitar on several tracks on the album Falling & Flying by Melbourne hip hop artist 360, including the singles Child, Boys Like You, Killer, and Run Alone.[ citation needed ]
After years of working alongside Pete Murray, and after a tour of Europe and Australia to support the album "Blue Sky Blue", Wood resigned from his position in the band to pursue other opportunities.[ citation needed ] He joined Melbourne based hard/classic rock band Electric Mary to tour Australia, Japan, Europe and the UK. The tour was titled 'Back in the EU-UK'. [3]

The TCB Band is a group of musicians who formed the rhythm section of Elvis Presley's band from August 1969 until his death in 1977.. The initials TCB stand for Taking Care of Business, a personal motto Presley adopted in the early 1970s. Although personnel changed over the years, the original members were James Burton, Jerry Scheff (bass), John Wilkinson, Larry Muhoberac (keyboards) and Ron Tutt (drums). Rocky Wood was a New Zealand-born Australian writer and researcher best known for his books about horror author Stephen King. He was the first author from outside North America or Europe to hold the position of president of the Horror Writers Association. Wood was born in Wellington, New Zealand and lived in Melbourne, Australia with his family. He had been a freelance writer for over 35 years. His writing career began at university, where he wrote a national newspaper column in New Zealand on extra-terrestrial life and UFO-related phenomena and published other articles about the phenomenon worldwide, in the course of which research he met such figures as Erich von Däniken and J. Allen Hynek; and had articles on the security industry published in the US, Canada, the UK, New Zealand and South Africa. In October 2010, Wood was diagnosed with motor neurone disease. He died of complications on 1 December 2014.
Bobby & Laurie were an Australian beat pop duo of the 1960s, with Laurie Allen (1942–2002) on vocals, guitar and keyboards and Bobby Bright on vocals and guitar. Their regular backing band were the Rondells. The duo's most popular singles were, "I Belong with You" (1964) and "Hitch Hiker" (1966). Their debut album, Bobby and Laurie (1965), was the first for independent label, Go!! Records. The duo disbanded in 1967 to pursue solo careers and briefly reformed from 1969 to 1971. Laurie Allen died in 2002, aged 60, after a heart attack.
