Electric Mary is a rock and classic rock band from Melbourne, Australia. [1] Their debut single "Sail On" reached #76 on the ARIA Singles chart. [2] [ full citation needed ]

Synopsis

The band formed in 2003 and named themselves after Rusty Brown met Mary Culum Campbell, the manager of Jimi Hendrix's Electric Lady Studios in New York City. In 2008 they were finalists at the MusicOz Awards, nominated for Best Rock Band. [3] They were also selected to support Whitesnake [4] [ full citation needed ] and Judas Priest. [5] 2009 saw them tour with Alice Cooper [6] and Glenn Hughes, [7] as well as showcasing at Experience PRS for PRS Guitars in Stevensville, Maryland alongside the likes of Carlos Santana, Dweezil Zappa and Buddy Guy. In 2010 they supported Deep Purple. [8] Whilst in the States, Electric Mary collaborated with engineer/producer Jason Corsaro on a live recording. [9]

The latter part of 2011 saw the band perform at the World Cup in South Africa and then embark on an extensive concert tour of mainland Europe including Hell Fest in France.

In 2012 the band returned to Europe for an extensive tour taking in France, Spain and Belgium and then over to the UK and then went on to perform at the Hard Rock Hell Festival in Wales. The same year, the band's drummer Stephen (Venom) Brown decided to leave and was replaced by Davey Porter, who Rusty had played with on and off for the previous 20 years.

In 2014 the band released the EP The Last Great Hope and embarked on a European tour, selling out shows in Spain and France. Upon returning home, Davey fell from a roof and broke his ankle, which kept the band off the road for more than a year.

In 2016 the band discovered the lost tapes of Hell Dorado from the previous tour, it was a revelation and they quickly snapped up the services of The Machine to mix the album. The band were hellbent on using The Machine after falling in love with his work on records by the band Clutch.

A tour of Europe in October 2016 started the Straight Out of Hell Dorado tour. At the end of the 2016 Straight Out of Hell Dorado tour, Davey decided to depart from the band and after extensive searching Paul (Spyda) Marrett was signed up for drumming duties.

In 2017 the band started writing for the next album and by the end of 2017 recording had begun. The album, Mother, was released in February 2019. [10]

The Dingoes are an Australian country rock band. They were initially active from 1973 to 1979, and reformed in 2009. Initially based in Melbourne, the band relocated to the United States from 1976. The most stable line-up comprised John Bois on bass guitar, John Lee on drums, Broderick Smith on vocals and harmonica, Chris Stockley on guitar, and Kerryn Tolhurst on guitar. Mal Logan on keyboards joined after Stockley was hospitalised when shot in the stomach by Melbourne drug-dealer, Dennis Allen, who was attempting to gate crash a party. The Dingoes' debut single, "Way Out West", was released in November 1973, and peaked in the top 40 of the Australian Kent Music Report singles chart. Subsequent singles were "Boy on the Run", "Smooth Sailing", and "Into the Night", which did not reach the top 50. The Superjesus are an Australian rock band formed in Adelaide in late 1994. Their debut album, Sumo, peaked at No. 2 on the ARIA Albums Chart, their second album, Jet Age reached No. 5 and their third album, Rock Music peaked at No. 14. Their top 40 singles include "Down Again" (1997), "Now and Then" (1998), "Gravity" (2000) and "Stick Together" (2003). At the ARIA Music Awards of 1997 they won Best New Talent for Eight Step Rail and Breakthrough Artist – Single for "Shut My Eyes". The group disbanded in mid-2004, and reunited in 2013. The band has undergone multiple line-up changes, with lead vocalist Sarah McLeod and bassist Stuart Rudd serving as mainstays. As of 2024, they are joined by lead guitarist Cam Blokland.

Thirsty Merc are an Australian pop rock band, formed in 2002 by Rai Thistlethwayte, Phil Stack, Karl Robertson (drums), and Matthew Baker (guitar). In 2004, Baker was replaced by Sean Carey, who was, in turn, replaced by Matt Smith in 2010. Thirsty Merc have released one extended play, First Work, and five studio albums: Thirsty Merc, Slideshows, Mousetrap Heart, Shifting Gears, and Celebration. Killing Heidi are an Australian rock band, formed in Violet Town, Victoria in 1996, initially as a folk-pop duo by siblings Ella and Jesse Hooper. The band has released three studio albums: Reflector, which reached No. 1 on the ARIA Albums Chart, Present and Killing Heidi. Their top 20 singles are "Weir", "Mascara", "Live Without It", "Outside of Me" and "I Am". At the ARIA Music Awards of 2000 they were nominated in seven categories and won four trophies: Album of the Year, Best Group, Breakthrough Artist – Album and Best Rock Album for Reflector. At the APRA Music Awards of 2001 Ella and Jesse Hooper won Songwriter of the Year. The group disbanded in 2006, with Ella and Jesse taking a lower profile with an acoustic folk duo, The Verses. Sunk Loto are an Australian alternative metal band formed in Gold Coast, Queensland in 1997. The band's founding members are Dane Brown on drums, his brother Jason Brown on vocals, Luke McDonald on guitar and Sean Van Gennip on bass guitar. Sunk Loto signed a recording contract with Sony Music Australia when the members' average age was 16 years. They released two studio albums, Big Picture Lies and Between Birth and Death ; both reached the ARIA Albums Chart top 50. Sunk Loto toured internationally between 1997 and 2007 headlining their own shows, appearing at major festivals such as The Big Day Out and Livid, and playing along side international bands such as Sevendust, Korn and Deftones. The group disbanded in December 2007, and after a 15-year hiatus the original members re-formed the band in 2022 and have since performed around Australia with 2 sold out national tours, and released their first new song in 20 years “The Gallows Wait” with new guitarist Rohan Stevenson after announcing they had parted ways with Luke McDonald. The Casanovas are an Australian hard rock band, which formed in 1999 by Patrick Boyce on drums, his brother Tommy on lead vocals and lead guitar, and Jimmy Lewis on bass guitar. They have released an EP Keep It Hot (2002), and five albums, The Casanovas (2004), All Night Long (2006), Terra Casanova (2015), Reptilian Overlords (2020) and Backseat Rhythms (2023).

Thrills, Kills + Sunday Pills is the fourth studio album by Australian alternative rock band, Grinspoon. It was released on 20 September 2004 by record label, Universal Music, with Howard Benson producing. On the ARIA Albums Chart it peaked at No. 4; ARIA certified the album as platinum for shipment of 70,000 units.

Cosmic Psychos is an Australian punk rock band which formed in 1982 as Spring Plains. The band's first stabilized lineup included Ross Knight on bass guitar and vocals, Peter Jones on guitar, and Bill Walsh on drums. Australian rock music historian, Ian McFarlane, described their music as "arty kind of punk noise, somewhere between The Birthday Party and a more narcotic sounding Ramones". Late in 1984 the group was renamed as Cosmic Psychos. They issued their debut album, Down on the Farm, in December 1985. Several albums have followed and were backed by national tours and international tours to Europe and North America including festivals with Mudhoney, Nirvana, L7, Helmet and Motörhead. In 1990 Jones was replaced by Robbie Watts on guitar. By 2005 Walsh was replaced by Dean Muller on drums. On 1 July 2006 Watts died of a drug overdose, aged 47, and the band continued with John McKeering joining.

Not from There were an Australian indie rock trio, which formed in 1991 in London, England by Anthony Hills on bass guitar, Simon Lambert on drums and Heinz Riegler on lead guitar and vocals. They relocated to Brisbane in 1992. Their 1998 single, "Sich Öffnen", was listed on radio station Triple J's Hottest 100. Their debut album, Sand on Seven, won the Best Alternative Release category at the ARIA Music Awards in 1999. Not from There's sound was characterised by grinding bass lines, fuzzed-out guitar riffs and occasional usage of dubs or samples.

Bernard Patrick "Doc" Neeson OAM was an Australian singer-songwriter and musician. He was the front man for the hard rock band The Angels from its formation in February 1976 through to 1999. The band then split up and reformed in 2008 after a lengthy legal battle where Doc resumed his place as front man. For the group, Neeson was the main singer-songwriter and was the driving force behind the band being propelled into stardom for a period spanning over three decades. Their top 20 studio albums on the Australian Kent Music Report Albums Chart are Face to Face, No Exit, Dark Room, Night Attack, Watch the Red, Two Minute Warning and Howling. Their number-one album, Beyond Salvation, on the ARIA Albums Chart appeared in February 1990 and was followed by another top 20 album, Red Back Fever. The group's top 20 singles on the related Australian charts are "No Secrets" (1980), "Into the Heat" (1981), "Never so Live" (1981), "We Gotta Get out of This Place" (1987), "Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again", "Let the Night Roll On" (1990) and "Dogs Are Talking" (1990). On 20 October 1998, at the ARIA Awards the group were inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Rarities is a compilation album by Australian rock band The Living End. The album features demos and acoustic versions of songs that were previously unreleased, and was first available on a range of online music stores for 5 days from 15 to 19 November 2008, at which point it was taken off the stores for no confirmed reason. The album was released exclusively online, until its physical release as part of a double CD deluxe edition of the band's fifth studio album, White Noise, on 27 February 2009.

Orianthi Penny Panagaris, known mononymously as Orianthi, is an Australian guitarist, singer and songwriter who rehearsed in 2009 with Michael Jackson in preparation for his This Is It concert series, and performed with Alice Cooper's touring band. Her 2009 debut single "According to You" peaked at No. 3 in Japan, No. 8 in Australia and No. 17 in the US; her second album, Believe, received a worldwide release in late 2009. The same year, she was named one of the "12 Greatest Female Electric Guitarists" by Elle magazine. She also won the "2010 Breakthrough Guitarist of the Year" award hosted by Guitar International magazine.

Zinc were an Australian three piece pop rock band, composed of three singer-songwriters: Adam Ray and the O'Shea brothers: John and Mark they formed in 2002. In 2004 the group supported a national tour by Shannon Noll. Their debut single, "The Morning After", was released on WEA Records and reached No. 22 on the ARIA Singles Chart in July 2004. Their debut album, Making Sense of Madness, recorded with Charles Fisher, was released on 6 June 2005. In mid-2005 they supported United States pop group, Hanson, on the Australian leg of their Live and Electric Tour. By 2007 the trio had disbanded.
