Brian John Poldberg (born May 16,1957) is a retired American professional baseball coach and manager. From 2014 to 2021,he managed the Omaha Storm Chasers,the Triple-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals. [1]
Poldberg was born in Omaha,Nebraska. He played a total of six seasons in the New York Yankees and Kansas City Royals minor league systems,then began his coaching career in 1987. He has held several managing and coaching positions in the minor leagues. He is known for his exhaustive work with catchers. Poldberg resides in Carter Lake,Iowa,and he has spent 20 years with the Royals organization. From 2004 to 2007,Poldberg served in various coaching roles with the major league team. Before taking the position with Omaha,Poldberg was the manager for the Northwest Arkansas Naturals,the Double-A affiliate of the Royals,from 2008 to 2013. [2] On September 23,2021,Poldberg announced that he would retire at the end of the 2021 season. [3]
The Omaha Storm Chasers are a Minor League Baseball team of the International League and the Triple-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals. They are located in Papillion,Nebraska,a suburb southwest of Omaha,and play their home games at Werner Park,which opened in 2011. The team previously played at Johnny Rosenblatt Stadium from 1969 to 2010.
Ronald David Johnson was an American baseball player,coach and minor league manager. From 2012 through 2018,he managed the Norfolk Tides of the International League,Triple-A farm system affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. His 2018 season with Norfolk was his 14th season as a Triple-A manager;Johnson formerly helmed the Pawtucket Red Sox of the International League (2005–09),and the Omaha Royals (1998) and Omaha Golden Spikes (1999) of the Triple-A Pacific Coast League.
Scott Robert Thorman is a Canadian former first baseman and current coach who is the minor league field coordinator for the Kansas City Royals. In 2022,he was manager of the Omaha Storm Chasers,the Triple-A affiliate of the Royals. He was previously manager of the Northwest Arkansas Naturals,the Royals' Double-A affiliate. Managing the Royals’former Advanced-A affiliate Wilmington Blue Rocks in 2019,he won the Mills Cup Championship. Thorman was drafted in the first round,30th overall in the 2000 Major League Baseball draft by the Atlanta Braves. Thorman played for Canada in the inaugural 2006 World Baseball Classic and Thorman also played in the 2009 World Baseball Classic.
Russell Jay Kuntz is an American baseball coach and former Major League Baseball (MLB) outfielder. He played for the Chicago White Sox,Minnesota Twins and Detroit Tigers between 1979 and 1985. He never appeared in more than 84 games in any season during his playing career. In the final game of the 1984 World Series,Kuntz hit a pop fly to the second baseman that became the deciding run batted in (RBI).
