Briana Provancha (born April 25, 1989) is an American sailor who competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics.
Provancha was born in San Diego in 1989. At the age of eight she had begun sailing. She attended Point Loma High School and by the age of 16 she had been in several international competitions. [1] She won the ICSA Coed Dinghy National Championship in 2010 with the Boston College sailing team, where she also sailed with Annie Haeger and they both graduated in 2012. [2] Provancha's degree was in marketing. [3]
She and Haeger won their place at the United States at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Palma de Mallorca which continued their dominance over the previous three years. [2]
She and Haeger appeared in the Women's 470 event in the 2016 Summer Olympics. [4]
In 2019 she was elected and became the Sailor Athlete Director on the board of US Sailing. [3]
Point Loma High School is a public high school in the San Diego Unified School District in San Diego, California, United States. It is located in the Loma Portal neighborhood of Point Loma. The school serves the neighborhoods of Point Loma and Ocean Beach. Students who live in Mission Hills may choose to attend Point Loma High School as their neighborhood school. Robert Scheidt is a Brazilian sailor who has won two gold medals, two silver medals and a bronze from five Olympic Games and a Star Sailors League Final. He is one of the most successful sailors at Olympic Games and one of the most successful Brazilian Olympic athletes, being one of only two to earn five medals along with fellow sailor Torben Grael, and only behind the six medals of Rebeca Andrade. He is the only Brazilian sailor to win medals in both dinghy and keelboat classes.

Hannah Louise Mills, is a British competitive sailor and two-time world champion in the Women's 470 class, having won in 2012 and 2019. Mills won a silver medal for Team GB with her crew Saskia Clark in the 2012 Olympics, she followed this up with a gold in the same event at both the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and, partnered by Eilidh McIntyre, the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. Mills is currently the on-board Strategist for the Emirates Great Britain SailGP Team, competing at events around the world. In 2022, Mills and Sir Ben Ainslie launched Athena Pathway, a programme to help fast-track development for female and youth sailors. Athena Pathway has a team competing in the first ever Women’s America’s Cup, helmed by Mills, and has also put together the British Youth Team that will battle to retain the Youth America’s Cup after winning it at the last event in Bermuda in 2017.
Philipine van Aanholt is a female sailor from Curaçao, competing mainly in the Laser Radial class. She is a two-time Women World Champion in non-Olympic classes. In 2008 and 2009 she was chosen Curaçao's Youth Sports Women of the year. After the National Olympic Committee of the Netherlands Antilles lost its recognition by the International Olympic Committee following the dissolution of the Netherlands Antilles in 2010, van Aanholt was allowed to participate in the 2012 Summer Olympics as an Independent Olympic Athlete. In 2016, she represented neighboring island Aruba at the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. She was Aruba's flag bearer at the opening ceremony of the 2015 Pan American Games. In 2023, she won silver in the Sunfish class at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile.
Nzingha Prescod is an American foil fencer, World Champion in foil at the 2008 and 2009 Cadet World Cups, bronze medalist at the 2015 World Fencing Championships, three-time medalist at the Pan American Games, and two-time Olympian. She has ranked as high as world # 5. Prescod was selected as an athlete director on the USA Fencing Board of Directors beginning in January 2021.

Caleb Payne is an American sailor. He represented his country at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Paine started sailing at age 6 in the dingy favored by Northern California yacht clubs called a Sabot at Mission Bay Yacht Club. He later transferred to Southwestern Yacht Club and started sailing in the Laser class of sailboat in national competition. He attended Point Loma High School in San Diego and sailed on their sailing team. Forgoing college, Paine began his Olympic campaign in earnest in the Finn class as his size demanded. He began traveling the world to compete, raising money any way he could to stay in competition. He worked closely with silver medalist and fellow American Zach Railey as his training partner leading up to the 2012 Olympics in London where Railey competed. He continued to train and develop his equipment and skills leading up to the 2016 Games in Rio. A very hard-fought battle with former training partner Railey resulted in Paine's earning the right to sail in Rio. The racing in Rio was equally challenging both off the water and on but Paine secured the Bronze Medal in the final medal race by posting a dominant win. For winning the Bronze Medal in the Rio Olympics Paine also was awarded the title of US Sailor of the Year.
Charlie Buckingham is an American Olympic sailor. He competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, in the men's Laser class where he finished 11th. He also competed at the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics in the men's Laser class.

The opening ceremony flag-bearers for the United States were baseball player Eddy Alvarez and basketball player Sue Bird. Javelin thrower Kara Winger was the flag-bearer for the closing ceremony. For the third consecutive time in the Summer Olympics, the United States was represented by more female than male athletes (285 men and 330 women).
