Bridget Neval (born 13 February 1985) also known as Bridget Phillips is an Indian-born Australian actress. She has been in various television programs including Wicked Science and is most famous for her portrayal of Lana Crawford in Neighbours .

Personal life

Neval was born in India and lived there for a few months before moving to Canada.[ citation needed ] She then moved to Australia at the age of 13.[ citation needed ] This has resulted in her having a unique accent which is a mixture of Australian and Canadian. Her father is Canadian and her mother is Australian.

In March 2011, Neval married Amos Phillips in Byron Bay, Australia. She has legally changed her name to Bridget Phillips. [1] In December 2011, she began contributing articles to Bon Vivant, an Australian comedy website. [2]

On her personal blog and elsewhere, Neval has spoken about her history of depression and eating disorders. She cites this as her main reason for leaving the acting industry. [3] [4]

Acting career

Guinevere Jones

This was the first role in which Neval was a main cast member. She played Reine Davidson, the nemesis of protagonist Guinevere Jones and her friends. There were 2 seasons of this program with a total of 26 episodes filmed all of which first aired in 2002

Wicked Science

She also portrays teenage genius Elizabeth Hawke (lead role) in Wicked Science (2003–2005), an Australian-produced children's series. [5] In the series Elizabeth Hawke and Toby Johnson became geniuses after a science experiment went wrong. Elizabeth had previously been a quiet nerd but she uses her new-found intelligence for evil, making her the villain of the program. Only fellow genius Toby can stop her from hurting innocent people. The first series of Wicked Science won 2004 AFI Award for Best Children's Television Drama. First season was produced in 2002–2003 and the second in 2004–2005.

Neighbours

Neval played Lana Crawford in Neighbours (2004–05) who was the series' first lesbian character. She later returned for Neighbours 35th Anniversary on 18 March 2020. [6]

Chasing Pegasus

Performed as part of the Melbourne Fringe Festival, the play opened on 3 October 2006. Written and directed by Sally McLean, Chasing Pegasus focuses on a night in the lives of ten members of the Serendipity Book Club. Bridget plays the role of Amelia, a sixteen-year-old. [7]

Damned by Dawn

Filmed in 2006, Damned by Dawn is an Australian horror film released in America on Blu-ray and DVD on 9 November 2010. [8] Neval played the role of The Banshee, a ghostly spirit whose eerie cries awaken the dead. [9]

Crawlspace

Crawlspace is an Australian horror movie filmed in 2012, directed and written by Justin Dix ( Damned by Dawn ). [10] She is credited as "Banshee".

Wicked Science is an Australian television series, which debuted on 24 February 2004. The series focuses on Toby and Elizabeth, two teenagers who are mysteriously turned into wizards of science. The series was originally run on Network Ten from 2004 to 2006 of which it then moved to Disney Channel, Wicked Science has also screened on ABC1 and ABC2 on 7:00am, Thursday. On Disney Channel Asia, it was fully aired until 2007.

Sky Mangel is a fictional character from the Australian soap opera Neighbours. She made her first screen appearance during the episode broadcast on 1 February 1989. The character was originally played by Miranda Fryer until 1991. When Sky was reintroduced on 13 August 2003, Stephanie McIntosh took over the role. She departed on 3 August 2007. McIntosh reprised her role as part of the show's 30th anniversary celebrations on 20 March 2015. She returned for a longer stint as part of the 35th anniversary on 13 March 2020, and made an unannounced cameo appearance in the final episode on 28 July 2022, though her appearance was only broadcast in the Australian cut of the episode.

The actress's casting was announced in June 2004, and she stated that she was excited to take on the role of Lana, a schoolgirl and the serial's first lesbian character. Neval explained that Lana's sexuality did not bother her, but she hoped her story would not be told in a sensationalist or distasteful way. Neval made her first screen appearance as Lana during the episode broadcast on 30 August 2004 and departed on 13 January 2005. Despite being retired from acting, Neval agreed to reprise the role for the show's 35th anniversary celebrations, which saw Lana marry Sky.

Bridget "Didge" Parker is a fictional character from the Australian soap opera Neighbours, played by Eloise Mignon. In 2007 the show was revamped to boost falling ratings in Australia. As part of this, the show's focus returned to family dynamics and the character of Bridget and her family were created and introduced. Bridget made her first on-screen appearance on 23 July 2007. She arrived in Erinsborough from Sydney with her father and mother, Steve and Miranda. During her time in Neighbours, Bridget's storylines included being run over by Susan Kennedy, falling in love with Declan Napier, finding her birth mother and falling pregnant at seventeen. In March 2009, the decision was taken to write the Parker family out of the show after both Mignon and Steve Bastoni, who played Steve, quit. Mignon wanted to return to her studies and she had enough of Neighbours. Bridget died on-screen on 21 July 2009 after suffering internal injuries, which she sustained in a car crash. The character was met with polarised reactions from viewers and critics, though her pregnancy storyline was voted the best of 2008 during a poll on the official website.

Eloise Mignon is an Australian actress. She began her career starring in children's television shows: The Legacy of the Silver Shadow and Silversun before appearing in the Australian soap opera Neighbours. Mignon possesses multiple citizenship, including Australia, France and the United States.

Sunny Lee is a fictional character from the Australian soap opera Neighbours, played by Hany Lee. She made her first screen appearance during the episode broadcast on 8 April 2009. Lee came to the attention of Neighbours producers after she entered a competition run by Dolly Magazine to win a three-month contract with the show.
