The Duchy of Brittany was a medieval feudal state that existed between approximately 939 and 1547. Its territory covered the northwestern peninsula of Europe, bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the west, and the English Channel to the north. It was also less definitively bordered by the river Loire to the south, and Normandy, and other French provinces, to the east. The Duchy was established after the expulsion of Viking armies from the region around 939. The Duchy, in the 10th and 11th centuries, was politically unstable, with the dukes holding only limited power outside their own personal lands. The Duchy had mixed relationships with the neighbouring Duchy of Normandy, sometimes allying itself with Normandy, and at other times, such as the Breton–Norman War, entering into open conflict.

First mapped by Norwegian cartographers from air photos taken by the Lars Christensen Expedition, 1936–37, it was named by the Antarctic Names Committee of Australia for A.A. Kreitzer Glacier is a glacier flowing northwest between Jennings Promontory and the Reinbolt Hills into the eastern part of the Amery Ice Shelf, Antarctica. It was delineated in 1952 by John H. Roscoe from aerial photographs taken by U.S. Navy Operation Highjump, 1946–47, and was named by Roscoe for Lieutenant William R. Kreitzer, U.S. Navy, commander of one of the three Operation Highjump aircraft used in photographing this and other coastal areas between 14°E and 164°E.

Reinbolt Hills is a group of rocky hills, low to moderate in height and about 5 nautical miles (9 km) long, situated 9 nautical miles (17 km) east of Gillock Island at the eastern margin of the Amery Ice Shelf. Delineated in 1952 by John H. Roscoe from air photos taken by U.S. Navy Operation Highjump (1946–47), and named by him for Lieutenant Fred L. Reinbolt, U.S. Navy, co-pilot on Operation Highjump photographic flights over this area.
