Brock Downey is a rock band from Melbourne. [2]

Danny Baeffel and Luke Szabo had a duo called Star 10 which released a CD called Open House in 2001. [3] They recruited Kristoff Lajoure and Ysbrand Daniel Brandsma and formed Brock Downey [4] (named after the younger brother of a friend). [5] Their debut single "Don't Bring Me Down" was released in July 2004 [6] and debuted at #91 on the ARIA singles chart. [7] Brandsma left the band later that year and was replaced by Ryan Sheldon in 2005.

Baeffel, Szabo, Lajoure and Sheldon became the Scissor File, releasing an EP From a Whisper to a Scream in 2007. [8] Szabo left to join the Hot Lies. [9] The Scissor File continued on with multiple personnel changes [10] until their break up with only Baeffel remaining from the original lineup. Baeffel went on to perform as Cisco Rose and Szabo took up the stage name Grass Taylor.

Their second studio album Upstyledown, peaked at number one on the ARIA Albums Chart. Their singles, "Rip It Up", "Say What?" and "What's the Deal?", all reached the associated ARIA Singles Chart top 40. After declining popularity following their 2004 album, Extremist Makeover, the band released a greatest hits album 10 Years of Cheap Fame before separating later that year. They reformed in 2009 to support long time friends Bodyjar on their End is Now Tour. 28 Days have released no new material since "Unmarked Graves". Their drummer, Scott Murray, died after being struck by a car in November 2001, aged 22.

The Screaming Jets are an Australian hard rock band formed in Newcastle, Australia, in 1989 by frontman Dave Gleeson (vocals), Paul Woseen, Grant Walmsley (guitar), Richard Lara (guitar), and Brad Heaney (drums). The band has three albums that peaked in the top five on the Australian ARIA Charts: All for One (1991), Tear of Thought (1992), and The Screaming Jets (1995). Their 1991 single "Better" reached No. 4 on the related singles chart. Walmsley left in 2007 and formed his own band. In 2013, bassist Paul Woseen released an acoustic solo album, Bombido.

Sunk Loto are an Australian alternative metal band formed in Gold Coast, Queensland in 1997. The band's founding members are Dane Brown on drums, his brother Jason Brown on vocals, Luke McDonald on guitar and Sean Van Gennip on bass guitar. Sunk Loto signed a recording contract with Sony Music Australia when the members average age was 16 years. They released two studio albums, Big Picture Lies and Between Birth and Death, both reached the ARIA Albums Chart top 50. The group disbanded in December 2007 & after a 15 year hiatus the original members have reformed the band in 2022.

Rocket Science are an Australian alternative rock band which formed in June 1998. They have released five studio albums, Welcome Aboard the 3C10 (2000), Contact High (2002), Eternal Holiday (2004), Different Like You (2008) and Snake (2019). Both Contact High and Eternal Holiday peaked in the top 100 of the ARIA Albums Chart.

Schnell Fenster were a New Zealand rock band formed in Melbourne, Australia in 1986 by Noel Crombie on drums and percussion, Nigel Griggs on bass guitar and backing vocals, Phil Judd on lead vocals and guitar, and Eddie Rayner on keyboards and piano – who were all former members of New Zealand-formed rock group, Split Enz. Fellow founder, Michael den Elzen on lead guitar had worked with Tim Finn Band, another band formed by a Split Enz alumnus. Judd's band were briefly named The Wanx: but Rayner soon left and they changed their name to faux-German for "quick window", because it "appealed to [their] perversity". The group formed the core members of Noel's Cowards, a short-term ensemble, whose sole output was six tracks for the soundtrack of a feature film, Rikky and Pete, in 1988. Schnell Fenster released two studio albums, The Sound of Trees (1988) and Ok Alright a Huh Oh Yeah (1990), before disbanding in 1992. At the ARIA Music Awards of 1989 they were nominated for Breakthrough Artist – Album for The Sound of Trees, Breakthrough Artist – Single for "Whisper" and Best Cover Art for Judd's graphic art.

Wolf & Cub are a psychedelic rock band from Adelaide, Australia. Three of the original members hail from Port Augusta. The four-piece were signed to record label 4AD, which make use of two drummers. This allows the percussive elements of their music to feature more prominently alongside the guitar. Their name derives from a comic from Japan, "Lone Wolf and Cub". Wolf & Cub signed to Last Gang records in North America. Their third studio album, Heavy Weight, was released in 2013.

The Hot Lies were an alternative rock band based in Australia. The band formed in Adelaide, in early 2004. Their line-up consisted of lead vocalist Pete Wood, rhythm guitarist Benjamin Pix, drummer Jared Brown, lead guitarist Luke Szabo and former I Killed the Prom Queen bassist Leaton Rose. The Hot Lies released two EPs and a full-length album, Ringing in the Sane, which reached the top 40 on the ARIA Albums Chart.

1927 are an Australian pop rock band formed in 1987 with James Barton on drums, Bill Frost on bass guitar, his brother Garry Frost on guitar and keyboards, and Eric Weideman on vocals, guitar and keyboards. They were popular in the late 1980s and early 1990s with their major hit songs "That's When I Think of You", "If I Could", "Compulsory Hero" and "Tell Me a Story". Their multi-platinum number-one album, ...ish (1988) was followed by The Other Side (1990). At the ARIA Music Awards of 1989 they won two categories: Breakthrough Artist – Album for ...ish and Breakthrough Artist – Single for "That's When I Think of You". At the 1990 ceremony they won Best Video for "Compulsory Hero", which was directed by Geoff Barter. In 1992 the group released a third studio album, 1927, which reached the top 40; but they disbanded the following year. Weideman reformed 1927 in 2009 with a new line-up.

Oblivia were an Australian rock band formed in 1999 by mainstays Peter Banicevic on bass guitar and Tony Jukic on guitar and synthesisers. They were joined in the following year by Irish-born vocalist, Gordon Bourke. Their debut single, "My Friend", peaked at No. 35 on the ARIA Singles Chart. At the ARIA Music Awards of 2000, "My Friend" received two trophies for Producer of the Year and Engineer of the Year for the work by Steve James. Oblivia released a sole album, The Careless Ones before disbanding in the following year.

Sender was an Australian rock band from Bendigo. Formed as Zenyth in 1995, they were the Victorian state winner of the Commonwealth Youth Affairs National Battle of the Bands in 1999. The line-up was Bohdan Dower on lead vocals, Michael Fitt on bass guitar, Tom Mewett on drums and Nathan Schifferle on guitar. The members were attending Bendigo Senior Secondary College. In 2001 they self-released an extended play (EP), Threedoublefivesix. They were the MusicOZ Artist of the year in 2001.

"Float On" is a song by American rock band Modest Mouse, released on March 8, 2004, as the lead single from their fourth studio album, Good News for People Who Love Bad News (2004). The music video is portrayed in the style of a pop-up book with the band wearing turn of the century style clothing and in an underwater scene with flotsam suits.

Automatic is an Australian rock band formed in Geelong in 1993 by Matt Fenton on guitar and vocals, Alex Jarvis on guitar, Leigh Marlow on drums and Richard Taylor on bass guitar.
