Bruce Abernethy (born 28 May 1958) is a New Zealand former cricketer. He played 13 first-class and 10 List A matches for Otago between 1981/82 and 1982/83. [1] [2]
Abernathy was born at Toowoomba in Queensland,Australia in 1958. [3] He studied at the University of Queensland,where he was a university medalist and graduated with a first-class honours degree,before undertaking a PhD at the University of Otago at which time he played top-level cricket for the regional side. [4] His thesis was completed in 1986,on perception in fast ball sports. [5] He returned to Queensland,working at the university between 1991 and 2003 before taking the newly created chair in the University of Hong Kong's Institute of Human Performance in 2004. He remained in Hong Kong until 2011 at which point he returned to Queensland to take up the chair of human movement science in the Faculty of Health and Behavioural Sciences. As of August 2022 he is the executive Dean of the faculty and retains a role as visiting professor at Hong Kong. [4] [6]
Thomas Leslie Pritchard was a New Zealand cricketer who played most of his first-class cricket in England. Pritchard was a genuinely fast right-arm bowler and a useful lower order right-handed batsman who played in several matches for Wellington before the Second World War. He said in 2013 that his 1939 memories of a game at the Basin Reserve and of playing for his country were still strong.

Bert Sutcliffe was a New Zealand Test cricketer. Sutcliffe was a successful left-hand batsman. His batting achievements on tour in England in 1949,which included four fifties and a century in the Tests,earned him the accolade of being one of Wisden's Five Cricketers of the Year. He captained New Zealand in four Tests in the early 1950s,losing three of them and drawing the other. None of Sutcliffe's 42 Tests resulted in a New Zealand victory. In 1949 Sutcliffe was named the inaugural New Zealand Sportsman of the Year,and in 2000 was named as New Zealand champion sportsperson of the decade for the 1940s.
Bruce Alexander Grenfell Murray was a Test cricketer for New Zealand who played 13 Tests as a right-handed opening batsman between 1968 and 1971. He was a school principal in the Wellington area from 1981 to 2002,and the author of several geography textbooks. After retiring from teaching,he was a cricket administrator in Wellington and a historian.
