The British honours system is a means of rewarding individuals' personal bravery, achievement, or service to the United Kingdom and the British Overseas Territories. The system consists of three types of award – honours, decorations and medals:
The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is a British order of chivalry, rewarding contributions to the arts and sciences, work with charitable and welfare organisations, and public service outside the civil service. It was established on 4 June 1917 by King George V and comprises five classes across both civil and military divisions, the most senior two of which make the recipient either a knight if male or dame if female. There is also the related British Empire Medal, whose recipients are affiliated with, but not members of, the order.
Lady Mary Elizabeth Peters, is a British former athlete, best known as a competitor in the pentathlon and shot put. Peters was named as Lady Companion of the Order of the Garter on 27 February 2019. She is expected to be installed in St. George’s, the Chapel of the Order, on Garter Day, 17 June.
General Sir Frank Edward Kitson, & Bar, DL is a retired British Army officer and writer on military subjects, notably low intensity operations. He rose to be Commander-in-Chief UK Land Forces from 1982 to 1985 and was Aide-de-Camp General to Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom from 1983 to 1985.
Sir Timothy John Besley,, is an academic economist who is School Professor of Economics and Political Science and Sir W. Arthur Lewis Professor of Development Economics at the London School of Economics. He is also a two-year fellow at All Souls College, Oxford. Since 2015 has been a commissioner on the National Infrastructure Commission.
Francis Patrick Kelly, CBE, FRS is Professor of the Mathematics of Systems at the Statistical Laboratory, University of Cambridge. He served as Master of Christ's College, Cambridge from 2006 to 2016.
Patricia Lewsley-Mooney CBE is the former Commissioner for Children and Young People, Northern Ireland. She was previously a member of the Northern Irish Assembly, and a councillor in Lisburn.
Sir David Lee Pearson, CBE is an 11-times paralympic games gold medallist having represented British para-equestrianism in Sydney, Athens, Beijing London and Rio. Over the course of his career he has won 30 gold medals at European, World and Paralympic level.
Bridget Clare Rosewell, is a British economist. Her expertise includes economic development, transport and agglomeration economics, development evaluation, infrastructure, forecasting, industry dynamics and competition as well as policy analysis related to these areas.
John Halstead Hardman Moore CBE FBA FRSE is an economic theorist. He was appointed Professor of Political Economy at the University of Edinburgh School of Economics in 2000. Previously, in 1983, he was appointed to the London School of Economics, where in 1990 he became Professor of Economic Theory, a position he still holds.
Dame Rotha Geraldine Diane Johnston, DBE is a Northern Irish entrepreneur in commerce and property. Johnston is chair of Northern Ireland Screen, a non-executive director of Northern Ireland Electricity and an independent board member of the Department of Justice and Belfast Harbour Commissioners. Until late 2012 she was the Northern Ireland member of the BBC Trust, the governing body of the British Broadcasting Corporation.
Henry James Ellis Hunt, CVO, CBE was a British police officer in the London Metropolitan Police.
Sir Matthew David Baggott, is a retired senior British police officer. He was Chief Constable of the Police Service of Northern Ireland from 2009 to 2014.

Major General (Rtd) David Nial Creagh, The O'MorchoeKLJ is a former British Army general. The O'Morchoe is a past President of the Royal British Legion - Republic of Ireland and also President of the Leinster Regiment historical association. and President of the Tipperary Remembrance Trust. He is the hereditary Chief and Prince of the Ó Murchadha (Murphy/Morrow) Sept, a cadet line of the ancient Irish dynasty the Uí Cheinnselaig, who were Kings of Leinster.
Gordon Matheson CBE is a former Scottish Labour Party politician and a former leader of Glasgow City Council.
Rear Admiral Christopher John Hockley, is a retired Royal Navy officer who was Flag Officer Scotland, Northern England and Northern Ireland from September 2011 to November 2014.
Lieutenant General Edward Grant Martin Davis, is a senior Royal Marines officer. He was Commandant General Royal Marines from December 2011 to June 2014. He was the Deputy Commander of NATO's Allied Land Command at Izmir, Turkey. He became Governor of Gibraltar in January 2016.
Sir William Thompson Wright, is a Northern Irish business owner and former Unionist politician.
Air Marshal Sean Keith Paul Reynolds, is a former senior Royal Air Force officer who served as Deputy Commander (Personnel) at RAF Air Command.
