Bryson Washington is an American college football running back for the Baylor Bears.

Early life

Washington attended Franklin High School in Franklin, Texas. As a senior, he rushed for over 2,000 yards and 30 touchdowns, as he finished as a semifinalist for the Mr. Texas Football award. [1] Coming out of high school, Washington was rated as a three-star recruit and held offers from schools such as Arkansas, Baylor, Boston College, Houston, Indiana, Iowa State, TCU, Texas Tech, and SMU. [2] [3] In December 2022, he committed to play college football for the SMU Mustangs. [4] [5] However a week later, Washington flipped his commitment to play for the Baylor Bears. [6] [7]

College career

As a freshman at Baylor in 2023, Washington ran ten times for 45 yards, while also making a catch for a yard. [8] [9] In week eight of the 2024 season, he notched 116 yards and two touchdowns in a win over Texas Tech, earning Big 12 Conference Newcomer of the Week honors. [10] In week ten, Washington ran for 196 yards and four touchdowns on 26 carries, as he helped the Bears beat TCU. [11] For his performance, he was named the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose player of the week. [12] In week 12, Washington rushed for 123 yards and three touchdowns, while also hauling in a touchdown through the air, as he helped Baylor clinch bowl eligibility with a win over West Virginia. On December 2, Baylor accepted a berth in the 2012 Holiday Bowl to face #17 UCLA, where they defeated the Bruins, 49–26, on December 27.

The 1935 SMU vs. TCU football game was a regular season college football game between the SMU Mustangs and the TCU Horned Frogs on November 30, 1935, at Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth, Texas. The two teams were undefeated and untied heading into the game. Both Southern Methodist University and Texas Christian University were members of the Southwest Conference, and a win in this game was necessary for either team to secure the conference championship. The game also held national championship implications, as the winner was expected to receive an invitation to compete in the Rose Bowl. As a result, the game is commonly considered the "Game of the Century", a moniker which noted sportswriter Grantland Rice, among others, used to describe the game. The buildup attracted a great deal of national attention, and it was the first football game in Texas to be broadcast nationwide on radio.

He played college football at North Texas and has also been a member of the Michigan Panthers of the United States Football League (USFL), the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League (NFL), the Vegas Vipers of the XFL, and the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League (CFL).
