Buckley Claypits and Commons is a Site of Special Scientific Interest in the preserved county of Clwyd, north Wales. It is an important reserve for the great crested newt. [1]

Afon Dyfrdwy is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) in the preserved county of Clwyd, north Wales, along the River Dee with the River Dee (England) SSSI in England. The river begins in Snowdonia National Park, Wales. From there, it flows northeast to Corwen, goes eastwards past Llangollen, and continues east through Chester, England. It empties into the Dee estuary, that forms the border between the Wirral Peninsula in north-west England and Flintshire in north-east Wales. The river has been designated a Designated Special Area of Conservation due to its role as a habitat for Atlantic Salmon and Floating Water Plantain.

Alyn Valley Woods and Alyn Gorge Caves

Alyn Valley Woods and Alyn Gorge Caves is a Site of Special Scientific Interest on the border of Flintshire and Denbighshire in north Wales. Most of the site is also designated as the Alyn Valley Woods Special Area of Conservation and the southern part includes Loggerheads Country Park. The SSSI has an area of 190.3 hectares while the SAC covers 168.3 hectares.

It has been an SSSI since 10 December 1986 as a conservation attempt to protect and preserve the site. Its area is 2.35 hectares. Natural Resources Wales is the body responsible for the site.

Beacon Hill, Hangingstone and Outwoods is a 147.5 hectare biological and geological Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) south of Loughborough in Leicestershire. It is also a Geological Conservation Review and a Nature Conservation Review site. The Outwoods and Beacon Hill are part of The National Forest. Two areas in the SSSI, Beacon Hill and Jubilee Woods are country parks managed by Leicestershire County Council, and The Outwoods is managed by Charnwood Borough Council.

Ardley Cutting and Quarry

Ardley Cutting and Quarry is a 40.1-hectare (99-acre) biological and geological Site of Special Scientific Interest north-west of Bicester in Oxfordshire. It is a Geological Conservation Review site and an area of 11 hectares is managed by the Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust as Ardley Wood Quarry. The site contains a Scheduled Monument, Ardley Wood moated ringwork, a Norman defended enclosure.

Little Wittenham SSSI

Little Wittenham SSSI is a 68.9-hectare (170-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest north-east of Didcot in Oxfordshire. It is also a Special Area of Conservation.
