The Bucknell Bison women's basketball team is the college basketball program representing Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. The Bison currently participate as part of the NCAA Division I basketball, and compete in the Patriot League. The Bison currently play their home games at the Sojka Pavilion. [2]

History

As of the 2015–16 season, the Bison have an all-time record of 499–593. They played in the East Coast Conference from 1982 to 1990 before joining the Patriot League in 1990. They played in their first NCAA Tournament in 2002 after winning the Patriot League Tournament. In the First Round, they lost to Baylor 80–56. In 2008, they qualified again for the Tournament after winning the Patriot League title, though they lost to North Carolina 85–50 in the First Round. Since playing in the Patriot League beginning in 1990, they have a 193–169 record in the conference. [3]

Bucknell won the Patriot Conference Tournament championship game over American, 66–54 to earn an automatic trip to NCAA Women's Tournament. They lost in the first round to Florida State. They finished the season 28–5, 16–2 in Patriot League play to share the Patriot League regular season title with American. With 28 wins, they finish with the most wins in program history.

The 2005 Patriot League men's basketball tournament was played at Sojka Pavilion in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania and Hart Center in Worcester, Massachusetts after the conclusion of the 2004–05 regular season. Number two seed Bucknell defeated top seed Holy Cross, 61–57 in the championship game, to win its first Patriot League Tournament title. The Bison earned an automatic bid to the 2005 NCAA tournament as #14 seed in the Syracuse region. In the round of 64, Bucknell upset #3 seed Kansas 64–63. It was the first win for a Patriot League team in the NCAA Tournament, and the first time Kansas lost an opening-round game since 1978.

The 2005–06 Bucknell Bison men's basketball team represented Bucknell University during the 2005–06 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Bison, led by head coach Pat Flannery, played their home games at Sojka Pavilion and were members of the Patriot League. They finished the season 27–5, 14–0 in Patriot League play to win the conference regular season title by three games. They won the Patriot League Tournament to earn an automatic bid to the 2006 NCAA tournament where they defeated No. 8 seed Arkansas in the opening round. In the round of 32, the Bison were beaten by No. 1 seed Memphis. This was the second straight season the Bison reached the round of 32 of the NCAA Tournament.
