Boqor Burhan Boqor Musse, is the titular title of Boqor Burhan, the heir apparent of the Majeerteen Sultanate. In May 2014, he was inaugurated as the 34th Darod King. His inauguration was attended by officials from Puntland, Federal Government of Somalia, Jubaland, Kenya and the Somali administration of Ethiopia. [1] In 2016, the delegations from Somali clans in Somalia, Djibouti, Ethiopia and Kenya are attending the three-day summit organized by King Burhan Musa, the 34th king of Daarood kingdom. It is the first such gathering for the Somali traditional leaders since the start of the Somali civil war in 1991. [2]

The Majeerteen is a sub-clan of the Harti clan, itself a sub-clan of the Darod. It is one of the major Somali groups, with a vast traditional territory spanning 3 major regions of Somalia: Bari, Nugaal and Mudug. From Bosaso down to Garacad, the Majerteen settle in what is literally considered to be the 'Horn of Africa'. They can also be found in Kismayo in southern Somalia. They primarily inhabit the Puntland state of northern Somalia.

Osman Mahmoud is a Somali sub-clan. Is one of the larger sub-clans within the major Majeerteen Harti confederation of Darod clans. The sub-clan is most notorious for its rich history within Somalia, That of which include sultanates such as the Majeerteen Sultanate.

Abdiweli Mohamed Ali Gaas, also more known as Abdiweli Gaas, is a Somali American economist and politician. The Majeerteen Sultanate, or Majerteen Kingdom also known as Majeerteenia and Migiurtinia, was a Somali kingdom centered in the Horn of Africa. Ruled by Boqor Osman Mahamuud during its golden age, the sultanate controlled the areas which are now called Puntland. The earliest mention of the kingdom is the 16th century. The polity had all of the organs of an integrated modern state and maintained a robust trading network. It also entered into treaties with foreign powers and exerted strong centralized authority on the domestic front.
