This was also the last film where Rajkumar and Bharathi were seen together. This was also Rajkumar's last collaboration with Siddalingaiah. The film is seen as a landmark in the career of Siddalingaiah. The movie saw a theatrical run of 25 weeks.

The movie was remade in Telugu in 1974 as Chairman Chalamayya starring Chalam.

He went on to do it for one last time in C.I.D. Rajanna which released in the same year. This was also Rajkumar's first full- fledged colour movie in the social drama genre and second overall after Sri Krishnadevaraya which also released in the same year.
