CJ Follini is an American businessman, investor, and educator known for his career in commercial real estate, venture capital, and fine art. He is the Managing Principal of Noyack Capital and founder of Noyack Wealth Club, a nonprofit organization.
The son of Italian immigrants, Follini's career began when his father suffered a stroke, leading to Follini taking over his father's company. He attended Fordham Preparatory, Tufts University, Harvard Business School, and London School of Economics for a graduate degree.
From 1988 until 2020, Follini was chief investment officer of a investment syndicate of nine families that focused on alternative investments. He founded Guns for Hire Production Centers (GFH) and won the 1998 Crain's magazine Small Business Award for his work there. [1] Follini also redeveloped the former St. Agnes Hospital Campus in White Plains, New York, purchased at a foreclosure auction for $28,000,000. Beginning in 2007, it was redeveloped to include assisted living and medical office buildings. [2] Previously, he built and sold the $400M Noyack Medical healthcare real estate portfolio and redeveloped One Hanson Place. [3]
Other development projects include the 400-acre International Trade Center in Mount Olive, New Jersey in partnership with the Rockefeller Group. [4] In 2022, Follini spun off NLI, a public non-traded real estate investment trust which invests in diversified American supply chain infrastructure. [5] He also founded Noyack Wealth Club, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit aimed at providing financial literacy to younger generations and underserved communities.[ citation needed ]
Follini has been a producer on the films Sling Blade (1996), [6] Bullet in the Brain (2000), [7] and Burning the Future: Coal in America (2008), [8] [9] as well as You Can Count on Me, The Minus Man, Croupier, Judy Berlin, The Bumblebee Flies Anyway, Once In The Life , and Chinese Coffee.[ citation needed ] In 2011, Follini created and directed Art/Trek NYC, a television documentary that explores New York City's five boroughs to showcase emerging artists.[ citation needed ]
Follini has taught courses on REITs, commercial real estate investment, and capital markets at New York University's Schack Institute of Real Estate. He has also served on the boards of or donated to the Parrish Art Museum, chashama arts, and Tufts University, where he donated the funds to build squash courts.[ citation needed ] Follini was co-chairman of the board of directors of the HERE Arts Center in SoHo, which honored him with the HEREmanitarian Award in June 2014.
