CPM Croix was an ice hockey team in Croix, France. The club existed from 1966-1991.

Croix is a commune in the Nord department in northern France.

History

Croix was founded in 1966 and frequently participated in the top-level French leagues between 1966 and 1979.^[1] After being relegated from the Nationale A following the 1978-79 season, they did not participate in the top-level league again.

Synerglace Ligue Magnus is the current name for the top men's division of the French ice hockey pyramid, established in 1906. The league was renamed in 2004 to take the name of its championship trophy, the Magnus Cup. The trophy was in turn named for Frenchman and IIHF founder Louis Magnus. During the 2015–16 and 2016-17 seasons, the league was officially known as Saxoprint Ligue Magnus, due to a sponsorship deal with Saxoprint, the online printing subsidiary of German conglomerate Cewe.

The 1978–79 Nationale A season was the 58th season of the Ligue Magnus, the top level of ice hockey in France. 10 teams participated in the league, and Chamonix Hockey Club won their 30th league title. CPM Croix was relegated to the Nationale B.

Patrick Francheterre served as player-coach of CPM Croix from 1968 to 1979.^[2] The club reached the finals of the Coupe de France in 1975 and 1978.^[3]

Patrick Francheterre is a French retired ice hockey player, coach, manager and international administrator. His playing career included time with CPM Croix and Dogues de Bordeaux as a player-coach, and the France men's national ice hockey team at the Ice Hockey World Championships and ice hockey at the 1968 Winter Olympics. After retiring from playing, he served as the head coach of the national team, and also served two terms as its general manager. He later became a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation council, and was honored with the Paul Loicq Award in 2017 for contributions to international ice hockey.

A player-coach is a member of a sports team who simultaneously holds both playing and coaching duties. A player-coach may be a head coach or an assistant coach. They may make changes to the squad and also play on the team.

The Coupe de France, is an ice hockey competition in France. It is the premier knockout cup competition organized by the Fédération Française de Hockey sur Glace. Since 2006-2007, the winners have been awarded the Trophée Pete-Laliberté.

The 1966 Ice Hockey World Championships was the 33rd edition of the Ice Hockey World Championships. The tournament was held in Hala Tivoli, Ljubljana, SR Slovenia, SFR Yugoslavia from 3 to 14 March 1966. For the fourth straight year, the Soviet Union won the tournament. For the Soviets, it was their sixth World and tenth European title. The Czechs beat both Canada and Sweden two to one, to take the Silver, while the Swedes' historic loss to East Germany helped put them fourth behind Canada for the Bronze.

The 1969–70 1re série season was the 49th season of the 1re série, the top level of ice hockey in France. Chamonix Hockey Club won their 25th league title.

The 1968–69 1re série season was the 48th season of the 1re série, the top level of ice hockey in France. Sporting Hockey Club Saint Gervais won their first league title.

The 1966–67 1re série season was the 46th season of the 1re série, the top level of ice hockey in France. Chamonix Hockey Club won their 23rd league title.

The 1963–64 1re série season was the 43rd season of the 1re série, the top level of ice hockey in France. Six teams participated in the final round, and Chamonix Hockey Club won their 20th league title.

The Jets de Viry-Essonne were an ice hockey team in Viry-Chatillon, France. The club was founded in 1951 as the hockey department of the US Métro sports club, and took on the name OHC Paris-Viry in 1971. The club was dissolved in 2011, and were replaced by Viry Hockey 91, which began play in the FFHG Division 3 in 2011-12.
