History

The center was established in 1994 with the formation of the university network. It was created as a metropolitan thematic center, specializing in biology, agronomy, and environmental sciences. The agronomy division originated at the current location of the center. However, the biology and veterinary medicine divisions originated in other university centers: the biology division was originally located at the technological institute (CUCEI), and the veterinary medicine division was located in the faculty of medicine (CUCS).
