Caesar Cervin is a retired American soccer midfielder. He played professionally in the Major Indoor Soccer League, United Soccer League and Southwest Indoor Soccer League (SISL). He later coached teams in the SISL where he was the 1991 Coach of the Year, USISL, Lone Star Soccer Alliance and was a fourteen-year assistant coach with the Dallas Sidekicks.
While born in Texas, Cervin grew up in Mexico.[ citation needed ] After graduating from high school, he attended Southern Methodist University where he played on the men's soccer team.[ citation needed ] In 1978, he signed with the Cleveland Force of the Major Indoor Soccer League. [1] He then played an unknown number of seasons with the Wichita Wings. [2] In 1981, he signed with the Dallas Tornado of the North American Soccer League, but saw no first team games. In March 1982, he signed with the Oklahoma City Slickers of the American Soccer League. [3] In June 1982, the Slickers released him after he failed to enter a game. He returned to Dallas where he was a "part-owner of an automotive repair shop". [4] In 1985, he played for the Dallas Americans in the United Soccer League. [2] In 1989, he signed with the Addison Arrows of the Southwest Indoor Soccer League. [5] In 1990, he both coached and played for the FC Dallas of the Lone Star Soccer Alliance.
In 1982, Norman High School hired Cervin as head coach of the boys' soccer team. [3] In 1990, he coached FC Dallas in the Lone Star Soccer Alliance. [6] He took Dallas to the LSSA championship where they fell to the Oklahoma City Spirit. [7] Later that year, he was hired by the Dallas Sidekicks of Major Indoor Soccer League as an assistant coach. He remained with the Sidekicks until 2004. In 1991, he coached the Fort Worth Kickers in the Southwest Independent Soccer League. He was the SISL Coach of the Year. [8] During the 1994-1995 USISL season, he coached the expansion Mesquite Kickers. [9] In 1996, he returned to the Fort Worth Kickers, now known as the Dallas Lightning. [10] On September 9, 2008, the Texas Outlaws of the Professional Arena Soccer League hired Cervin. [11]
The Oklahoma City Slickers was the name given to two different American soccer clubs based in Oklahoma City. The first team competed in the second American Soccer League in 1982 and 1983. The club was re-organized and re-branded in 1984 as the Oklahoma City Stampede and again in 1985 as the Tulsa Tornado's to play in the short-lived United Soccer League. The second Oklahoma City Slickers competed in the USISL from 1993 to 1996. Home games were played at historical Taft Stadium in Oklahoma City.
Kim Røntved, known as "the Rocket", is a Danish former professional soccer player and head coach. A 17-time all-star in various leagues, and a fan favorite with the Wichita Wings, he was inducted into the Indoor Soccer Hall of Fame in February 2014.
The second Tulsa Roughnecks were an American soccer team that played in the United Soccer Leagues from 1993–99.
Edward Radwanski is an American former soccer midfielder who is the head coach of the Clemson Tigers women's soccer team. He spent five seasons in the Major Indoor Soccer League, one in the Continental Indoor Soccer League and seven in the USISL and its predecessor, the SISL. He also earned five caps with the U.S. national team in 1985.
Billy Phillips is a former U.S. soccer goalkeeper who played three seasons in the North American Soccer League, six in the Major Indoor Soccer League and later coached the Dallas Sidekicks for two seasons.
Neil Cohen is a former U.S. soccer defender. He played eight seasons in the North American Soccer League and six in the Major Indoor Soccer League. He also earned one cap with the U.S. national team in 1976. In 2008, Neil was elected to the FC Dallas, "Texans Credit Union Walk of Fame" for his contributions to soccer in Texas.
