Antigua and Barbuda is a sovereign archipelagic country composed of Antigua,Barbuda,and numerous other small islands. Antigua and Barbuda has a total area of 440 km2,making it one of the smallest countries in the Caribbean. The country is mostly flat,with the highest points on Antigua being in the Shekerley Mountains and on Barbuda the Highlands. The festival begins in late July and ends the first Tuesday in August,known as Carnival Tuesday. Both Carnival Monday and Carnival Tuesday are public holidays on the island. As Auntie Gwen,she hosted a cooking show Cooking Magic,which began airing on the Antigua and Barbuda Broadcasting Service (ABS) in the 1960s until her death,the longest running television series in the eastern Caribbean,other than news programs. The recipient of many awards,she was honored with the Order of the British Empire,the Order of Honour of Antigua and Barbuda,Distinguished Order of the Nation.
Alincia T. H. Williams-Grant is an Antiguan and Barbudan politician. She was appointed as a Senator and elected as the President of the Upper House of Parliament in Antigua and Barbuda in June 2014.

Cheryl Mary Clare Hurst is an Antiguan and Barbudan politician. She is a senator of the Upper House of Parliament in Antigua and Barbuda. She was appointed senator by Prime Minister Gaston Browne. She is also the General Secretary of the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party. Hurst was appointed senator after the 2014 general elections held in Antigua and Barbuda.

On October 24,2023,a by-election was conducted in the Antiguan seat of St. Mary's South in response to the resignation of Kelvin Simon,the sitting UPP member of parliament,due to challenges to his candidacy. It was Antigua and Barbuda's second election since Prime Minister Gaston Browne emerged victorious in the country's general election in 2023 with a narrow win.
